Just spitballing here, but what do you think of the Griz and Cats squaring off each year in an early season non-conference game instead of the Frying Pan State and Mesa Community College type games they played this year? I think it would be cool to have the second game of the season each year be a Cat-Griz prequel to the November Brawl?
Just about every other sport competed in the Big Sky includes home and away games during the season, although usually not done in football. Carroll and Tech played twice a year for quite a long time and it seems the intensity of the rivalry was not diluted.
It's already been stated by both ADs that getting other teams at the FCS level to come to each of the Montana venues is tough.
Guaranteed sell out for the host school, and could be sold at premium pricing.
Very reasonable travel costs for the visiting team.
