Schedule

Speaking of schedule, anyone hear anymore on the rumored Duke game?

It's not going to happen. At least this year it isn't. The schedule was mentioned in a Missoulian article sometime back, but do not remember it enough to provide any insight on it. But, I do know that Duke was not on it.

Not sure why they do not have the Men's 2004-5 bb Schedule up on www.montanagrizzlies.com yet. Lady Griz schedule is posted. Only two reasons I can think of. www.montanagrizzlies.com administrator hasn't posted it yet, or there're some more changes to be done with it.

I hope they schedule at least one high profile team. But, hopefully have it surrounded by a couple of "easier" teams.

Bad news. I found on the Big Sky Conference site that the Griz play against State in Missoula on January 15 when school is out of session. The Griz will have to get off to a hot start next season so some of those fair-weather fans will fill the seats for that one.

Why would they schedule it that way? Do they figure they'll get a sell out because it's state no matter if the students are there or not? And that they may as well put the "hopeful" sellout during a typical down time?

The school doesn't really have much say in scheduling conference games. I'm sure if UM had their choice the MSU game would be scheduled when the students are around. But there was a day when it didn't matter if they were there or not- Adams Center should be sold out for the Griz-Cat game!

The first game of cat/griz basketball is almost always during christmas break....both in Missoula and Bozeman. It doesn't make sense to me either.

Scheduling for basketball is done by computer. It used to be that the Griz-Cat game was the last game of each half of conference play. But not anymore.

Football is another matter. Montana and Montana State has always been able to schedule its' game at the end of the season. But the conference doesn't allow it for basketball.

That's the way it should be. Duke/UNC and any other good college basketball rivalry does it the same way. The Big Sky needs to get its act together.

Last season, at least the students were around here in Bozeman for its half of the matchup, then the later game was up in Missoula where the students were definately around.
It seems a bit ridiculous that the conference schedules the matchup when students are out (it looks early enough that students might even be out at MSU, I haven't checked the academic calendar), despite the fact that Montana/Montana State nearly combine for more attendence than the rest of the league, excluding Weber.
