Schedule Affecting Recruiting?

I was leading up to this in another topic and decided to start another thread and not hijack it, but what do we think about Fullerton's 13 team schedule as far as recruiting goes? The big thing I can think of is looking at our roster (past and present) and seeing the amount of Portland/Vancouver area kids on this team and previous teams. Surely a bonus for these kids was having their family and friends seeing them every other year at PSU, but does this affect our recruiting or help it? Really the only new market we pick up is ND, but I don't feel like we recruit that area heavily anyways. We already played Cal Poly and UCD in previous years so that's nothing new, but we lose games every other year in Sacramento which is another area we recruit heavily. This may be a bit of a reach because our coaches are still recruiting these areas and hiring staff with local ties, but does it affect anything?

Seems like a reach to me, considering three recruits signed in the 2012 class were three of the best from Oregon in Walcott, Holmes and Craig, and IF recruits asked questions like "who do we play and where", then they would all three know the Griz don't play Portland State again until 2015 and all three still signed and here now. Also, the Griz have made a killing in the Seattle area for years, and who do they play out there? No one. Cheney is NOT close drive for Seattle area parents of Griz players. I guess Portland is close for Seattle area parents, I'll grant you, but the Griz were signing plenty of Seattle area and Oregon preps way back in the day when Portland State wasn't even in the league.

IMO - If you can't play FBS, you want to play for the Montanas, ASUs, EWUs, GSUs, etc.

How did they get on that list? If you want to play for EWU its because you cant make grades at an FBS or any of the other FCS you mentioned

I figured that they are a recent national championship winner... and they're likely to be our toughest opponent this year.

I'd choose to play for EWU over the Idahos, UNC, SacSt, etc. lol. Just saying.

Lots of the brothers want to play in a bigger, more cosmopolitan city than Missoula. I almost used the words "more diverse", but that would NOT describe Missoula!
