Sayeed's "almost" triple double and the scoreboard

So, if Pridgett had gotten injured in mop up minutes, just to achieve a statistical milestone, how would each of us feel about DeCuire's decision? Sorry, a coach at this level doesn't risk losing the team's best player just for a statistical milestone, not with so much on the line. I can see it, if a team is going nowhere, a season is a nightmare, and it is career milestone with being #1 is at stake, but not for triple double.

I don't know, man, he did leave him in until about 30 seconds left. So if he was thinking about injuries he wasn't showing it late in that game when it was in hand much earlier.

I wasn't paying attention to the time clock when he sat. It seemed earlier. If that's the case, I'm relieved he didn't get injured at that stage. I would've sat him the final 5 minutes, with an option to return, if the game got to close again.

When I got home from the game, my wife said that the Pluto announcers commented that the crowd was very excited as Sayeed got close to a triple double.

My response was that I didn't know it nor did anyone around me BECAUSE the folks who control the stats on the scoreboard would rather show Monte dancing with a 3 year old or the students scrambling for money or the dance team (which we can all see without the scoreboard). But, when it comes to stats, we almost never get them except when a player is shooting a free throw, they give the player's stats.

A key part of the game for me is knowing the rebounding margin, the turnover margin, the shooting percentages, etc. Unless you spend the whole night staring up at the scoreboard, you will rarely see those appear. Griz personnel, how about a few more stats and less camera on the cheerleaders or the Titanic thing, or the piano game. Please.

I look at the stats on ESPN during the game. I keep the app open. Can glance at other Big Sky games easily. Some of you might have to trade in your flip phones. I did.

Exactly what I do when watching the game on Pluto. Have the ESPN app open on my phone and follow team stats that way.

Subbed out with 49 seconds left.

Also, he had a few chances before he got subbed out with 49 seconds left (thanks rep, I was at the game and thought it was with a couple minutes left, but you're correct): Manuel missed jumper, the not completed lob to DCH, and then Vasquez missed a three.

Not to be a hater, but "Almost" a triple double? Really? Some great stats, but it's NOT a triple double. Actually get the triple double then make a big deal about it. Pretty simple.
How can being 1 assist short, and with 2 good opportunities not converted on, not be "almost"?

I didn't see anyone saying he "had" a triple double.

It's "almost" in my book.
Actually, the real important topic here is -- in my view -- the second part of the thread title. He "almost" had a triple double (check the def). The key question is: Could a display of stats on the scoreboard have alerted someone of the staff that Sayeed was that close to a favored milestone? Maybe, maybe not. I very much doubt that a team-oriented coach like DeCuire has anyone assigned to keep track of numbers like that. Minutes played and fouls, yes, records ... probably not. But TD understands motivation, and a triple-double is also a team accomplishment. So ... knowing they were that close, he could have gone for it ... for Sayeed and for the team.
Honestly in the final 5-6 minutes of the game I saw his stats up there enough times to know what was happening. It was there, Trav was just busy being a coach. Just my two cents

In the post game with Riley he was asked about taking him out. Said it would not have been sporting to keep him in til the very end given the game was in hand.
