I thought that what we were missing was a fire on defense. Nobody really looked like the cared that much. Many of the runs looked like Pop Warner. The offensive player would take the ball, run into the line and then keep pushing the pile of guys down the field.

Yep - frustrating to watch. One series it would look like the D was on fire - tackling well, pressure on the QB, stuffing the gaps, decent downfield coverage. Next series, standing, missed tackles, reaching for the ball carrier rather than driving through them, 10 yds off the receivers, etc. Very frustrating to watch.
