Saturday's playoff game

There's not necessarily a game on Saturday yet.

No need to worry about setting it up unless they know its going to happen for sure.

That's true I guess. I'm just assuming there's no way NAU will lose to UNC....again.

They should probably start thinking about it... UNC season sweep of NAU? Doubt that's gonna happen. I'd rather have another home game than a bye. this team needs more momentum and a great home win instead of a slow bye week would do that.

I didn't know UNC played NAU this year? Of course, UNC means the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, if not mistaken. And NCU is Northern Colorado. It's about as bad as NIU and UNI at times, I know, I've been raked over the coals on that one by a Hawkeyes fan no less.

No raking intended--but I believe that Northern Colorado is indeed the University of Northern Colorado. UNC would then be correct.

That's weird, because I get this:

http://www.unc.edu

...otherwise known as 'The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.'

So we got 'two' UNCs around here?

I wonder which of the two is bigger?

Of course, a while back, as I recall, at least I think I recall, that there was a team with an interlocking N-C-U slanted diagonally, on their helmets, but that was before they became a member of the BSC. I'd have to admit I wasn't paying that much attention to it at the time, and my memory may not be serving me correctly on this at present, I think they may have changed their helmet design as well since then, if not mistaken that is; whatever.
I do recall though that some of their fans on their 'Fan Board,' if they still have one, that is, were somewhat beside themselves by the realization that they wouldn't be eligible for post-season action for a couple years; some NCAA ruling on the upgrading of their athletics as such from a Div. II to I-AA and all.

I wonder whatever happened to them?

Any I remember them from 30 years ago called University of Northern Colorado. What's the difference? It's not the only University with the same letters.

At one point this thread was talking about the game that the Griz are going to be playing on Saturday against ISU. Gametime is at 7:05 Saturday Night. Wish I could be there!

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, if that's what you're inferring. I sometimes get confused over the some 1700 odd colleges and universities there are in this country and how they call themselves under this or that abbreviation, etc. Let alone by the media; it does somehow make a difference. I was under the mistaken impression that Nothern Colorado was called NCU. Sorry. I was asking for a clarification of terms that appeared in a previous posting.

Then to carry on once the confusion was laid to rest. Sometimes when someone says Miami I don't know if they mean of Ohio or Florida. St. Francis of New York or is it of Pa., Loyola of Chicago or is it MD. Sorry again for happenstantially soliciting your bellligerent response.
Would it be alright Mr. 'AHITDD,' 'coyote,' and 'bigtyme' for me to say 'Go Grizz!!!'...or is that too on another thread?

Thank you again for your understanding and courtesy.

Well, your recall is wrong. Their helmets have UNC as their logo.

And get off your Fricken high horse. A lot of schools have the same initials. UM isn't the only UM and I would piss on any Michigan, Miami, Maryland or Minnesota fan that tried to tell me that we couldn't use UM.

Interesting. It's like a question in the Platonic 'Republic,'.."Would you rather be a victim or a victimizer?" And one can hypothesize Nietzsches'..."If it doesn't kill me, it will only strengthen me," as a type of response.

But of course, such a statement/response provided by Nietzsche can only be stated by the victim and not the victimizer. It is rather amusing how some indivivuals just 'pick' up a curt little phrase like that along their way and happenstantially throw it out as if they know of what they're saying, for want of anything better to say, that is. It's like utilizing the term 'high horse' while they shroud themselves in the duplicity apparent of the 'snubbery of an underling.'

Some universities have 'fan bases' that take the victories, sometimes their teams defeats, as a matter of course; they enjoy the winning and congratulate their opponents for a noble effort, etc. They've been there before. Some have a so-called 'fan-base' wherein they, the fans, become more belligerent with every victory. It has been stated, historically speaking at least, that in a civilized nation the ignorant listen to the knowledgeable. Interesting how deviant the 'have-nots' against the 'haves,' as Machiavelli would say, become. I really wonder if the athletes sense this in their so-called home crowds? One can also wonder if what is sensed from the crowds, so to speak, forms a deterrent towards a motivated activity. What would you think? Not that I haven't witnessed brawls and fighting in the stands of Dahlberg Arena either.

Wow, let's applaud the complexity and wordiness of the response; more a sign of a bad writer than a good one.

"I didn't have time to write a short letter so I wrote a long one instead."
