Sarah Ena's Letter to the Editor

Sarah Ena wrote an extremely classy letter to the editor in the Missoulian. I've copied it here. All I can say in response is, "Wow". It has been a great pleasure watching you play, Sarah, and you have certainly given far more to Missoula and the University of Montana than you've received. Thanks for being such a tremendous representative and ambassador of our University. Up with Montana!

Dear Missoula: It's me, No. 14 from the Lady Griz basketball team. You know, the one with the curly black Polynesian bun and the big calves? Well this past Saturday was my senior night and so I wanted to write in to the paper, hoping that it would give me the opportunity to try and thank everyone who has touched my life and supported me for the past four years.

I want to extend a huge thank you to all of you fans who have stuck by my side, encouraging and cheering me on freshman year until now. From crazy comments yelled that make me chuckle after a bad call, to a hug after the game, to a high-five running in from the locker room, I can't begin to describe to you how much all of that meant. From great games to not-so-great games, made shots and bricks, fist pumps and tears, four fouls or no fouls, playing basketball in Dahlberg Arena has truly been an experience of a lifetime.

I thank God every day that He opened the door and led me to come here. You really are my family away from home. It has truly been a blessing and an honor to play for the Lady Griz basketball program and represent the University of Montana. I have had the time of my life! I could have never dreamt for more dedicated, loyal and loving fans.

I will always have a special place in my heart for you, Missoula. Thank you for all the incredible memories, both on and off the court. Take care and God bless.

Sarah Ena, Missoula

What a fine letter, and Sarah is the perfect example of the young people we would like to have representing the University of Montana. We're very proud to have you as one of "us," Sarah.

WOW, amazing how it sometimes takes someone in their late teens to early 20's remind us what "class" is all about. It is refreshing to know class does exist out there. I hope at times when any of us are not so classy we can remember what class is from this.

GRIZNATION is proud Sarah and the Ena's are part of the family. Too bad her brother did not join in.

Thank you Sarah, and best of luck in life after U of M.

Like so many before you, you represented UM with class Sarah !!

Sarah---you are a true gem and epitomize what it means to be a student-athlete. Many thanks for all you have done to make GrizNation so proud of you!!

It is really uplifting to see someone appreciate the opportunity they are given by giving their all and doing it with style and grace. There isn't a whole lot anyone could ask for! May the Griz be blessed with a thousand more Sarah's in the years to come.

Great player, played hard. Thanks Sarah for all you did at, and for, UM. Well done.

Now tell your brother to take a few plays "off" against the Griz. Just kidding. We want his best, and wouldn't expect anything less. :thumb:

GO GRIZ
