Sam Houston IN...wow!

Was really surprised they made it in. Lost 2 in a row and had a 8-4 record. 8 wins with wins over a new FCS program that only played 7 games all year, a Div II team, and a SWAC team with 2 wins all year. As someone said only major win was over Eastern on their own Turf early in the year. Playing in the past two Chippers must be part of the calculation of getting the field? LOL. Don't you have to have at least 7 wins over FCS schools? If so, I guess they count the Houston Baptist as a FCS school even though they are 1st year program.

No, it was just somewhat of a guideline they went by, even the selection committee chair said yesterday they were even looking at some 6 win teams.

They absolutely should not have been selected! Seems that politics counts for too much these days.

Brian Bell has not missed a start for Sam Houston.

Actually, last game he threw the ball 63 times for 4 TDs and 4 INTs.

If they shouldn't have been selected, then SUU should win easily. Are you saying 8-4 SUU deserved a selection more than SHS?

8-4 YSU deserved selection more than 8-4 SHSU.

My bad I thought Bell had missed the last 2 games due to injury.

Random comment, but I saw Samson Kalikeni was dressed out at the game in Bozeman. I thought he was no longer on the team. Anyone know? We could certainly use more o-line depth next year.

First off, all 8 of SHSU's wins were considered DI. Both Houston Baptist and Incarnate Word are considered FCS Independents this year. Both joined the Southland conference in July and will officially compete in the Southland in 2014.

Is Sam Houston State the Montana State of the Southland Conference? Discuss.

 No, Sam Houston has actually made it past the quarterfinals...multiple times. In fact, with their multiple playoff trips and NC runner-ups, they are more like the Griz than the Cats.
