Sam Herders Bracket Projections

Enough of the playoff talk already. This is whistling through the graveyard talk. There is wishful thinking, Griz pride talk, and being just plain ridiculous. Reality is a bitch, it bites, but it is what it is. Idaho, SS, Weebs, reinforced with poor coaching preparation, coaching faith that Bambi on ice as a backup QB could perform after the planned targeting hit, put an end to a well set up NC run. Sure, there is a chance at a slot. Slim chance. Hmm......the scats keep braggin' up their 1984 run, all on the road as I remember. As Al Michaels once said, "Do you believe in miracles?" :twocents:
Eh, maybe.

https://theanalyst.com/na/2022/11/fcs-football-bracketology-projecting-the-2022-playoff-field-before-week-11/

Lets be honest. Your team played the easiest schedule in the Big Sky, only playing Weber (at home), and us (at home). We played by far the toughest schedule in the Sky, playing you, Weber, Idaho, and Sac. State, with three of them on the road. You beat Weber only because of four safeties which has never occurred in 120 years of college football. And, you will lose to us. There was a valid reason why we were ranked #3 nationally before we lost close games on the road due to not having a quality back-up QB. But you have got to know that we can, and will defeat you if Johnson plays QB in that game. My prediction.

The Griz had a gauntlet of a schedule for sure. The Griz are one of the best teams in the fcs. But… your guys needed to win one of those tough games. I understand injuries suck and don’t wish them for any team ( even the Griz). But injuries happen and the Griz program did not have the depth needed to get those quality wins. Everything else is excuses.

Griz are good enough that they could surely win on the 19th. Cats have team weaknesses for sure. But Cats play way way better at home, I don’t anticipate Griz domination by any means.

Guess time will tell.

I largely agree. However, not having UM's terrific qb is a damn good excuse. I think the Cats are going down.

Could be. Our secondary has struggled and will need to play better to win. Also really curious to see how our offense plays against the Griz defense. Really interesting to see smaller mobile oline matched up against a fast very aggressive defense. Nobody has stopped our offense yet, but will be a great test.

Agree with this. Griz won't stop your offense, but I would expect them to keep the scats to a touchdown or two under their average, as they have with every team this year. The question is can our offense score enough points to get the win. With LJ in the game we can score points; hopefully enough. If he's injured, or sick, or whatever, we're in big trouble.

Griz schedule has been tough and hopefully prepared them for the next two games. Hope the scats are healthy going in so there are no excuses!

Go Griz!

Going to be a great game and there is a lot on the line. Especially for the Griz. Fighting to remain alive for a shot in the playoffs. I have watched the Cats quite a few games. I think the defense definitely has some holes and the schedule hasn’t given them the really hard games that would convince me they are a top five team. They have won the games they need to. Mellott is a gamer. He has swagger and the team gets behind him or their #2. They are well coached, even though I think Vegan is Ron Ash #2.
Special Teams - advantage Griz, unless the Cats try an onside kick. Then who knows. Maybe this should be equal. Cats have a decent kicker, but Griz have an exceptional punter. Still going advantage Griz.
Offense - hard call, but I will give the edge to the Cats right now. Johnson has looked very impressive. Especially against Sac State. Griz run game picking up the last few weeks. Still, I have to go with the body of work and who knows if Johnson is healthy for the Brawl
Defense - Griz all the way
Coaching - Griz. Vegan hasn’t proven he can beat the Griz yet and Bobby preps well for this game.
Home field advantage - the numbers show this isn’t that big of a factor for either team. Advantage still to the Cats.
Prediction - drum roll please. Griz don’t overlook EWU, play second and third stringers most of the second half and come into the game healthy. Griz win the brawl by 10. 80% of Cat posters quit trolling on egriz for 9 months.

Good rundown Copper. Only two areas I disagree with you a bit. The first is your saying Vigen is Ash2. I have observed him extensively since he has been here and he is smarter and doesn’t take any crap.He is much more assertive than Ash. He will make changes quickly if he sees something he doesn’t like.

The second is I think Vigen learned a ton last year about this rivalry. He is a really smart guy and I think he will have this team totally prepared for this game this year.

Bottom line, I expect a really close game. These are two good teams and it will be fun to watch. I hope both teams go in this game healthy.

Ash was a better coach than you realize. Best winning percentage in modern program history (minimum three seasons), and no PED suspensions to speak of. He ran a clean, winning program before being stabbed in the back just because of his record versus one opponent. Et tu, Waded?

33,
I make fun of Vegan all the time. Just because he is the Cats coach. The guys record is astounding for his tenure. I could find ten things to ding him on and it would make me look like a complete tool. He is a solid coach with a great resume. I think the Cats will definitely be prepared. I gave the Griz the edge because winning the Brawl for Vegan is a monkey on his back right now. Could provide extra motivation for him though. Last year Cat fans were very confident going into the game and they got blasted. I am hoping we don’t reverse the situation this year. I just have a feeling the Griz get the win. You are correct. Going to be a great game and I also hope both teams are at full health. Also be interesting to see what the weather is like.

I was finishing my degree in Bozeman when he was hired. Best hire they ever made, that program was a nuclear disaster before that hire.
