I agree. I was at the Tennessee game and thought the Griz O and D line looked bigger and I thought they looked better. It was a pleasant suprise to hear Dooley agree with me in his press conference talking about how UT got "whipped" up front and if it wasn't for the speed advantage on the outside, the game could have been a lot closer.
You think there is any chance of this happening in PSU? Some of you probably do.
Let me preface this post by saying I have seen MAYBE 3 Carroll College games in my entire life, and I know absolutely NOTHING about their players or their skill levels...
Carroll College Saints:
On offense:
Their center is 6'1", 265 (significantly larger than the sCats center, if I recall)
They have 9 offensive linemen that go 280 lbs or better, and 3 that top 290.
Their senior-most QB is 6'1", 195 lbs
Their starting RB is 6'0", 227 lbs, and they have EIGHT RB's on the roster that top 200 lbs
Their 4 WR's are a tad short, going 6'3", 6'2", 6'2" and 6'1" and all are between 180-205 lbs
Their starting TE is 6'5", 255 lbs.
On defense:
They have 6 DB's that are over 6' and over 200 lbs (their roster doesn't differentiate between CB and S)
Both their starting DE's are bigger than Featerston was last year
Their top 3 D-linemen are all over 6'2" and go 260, 260, 275 (admittedly, a little light here)
Their LB's are all in the 6'2-6'3" range and average over 225 lbs
Portland State:
On Offense;
Their O-Line goes 6'5", 350 lbs, 6'6", 315 lbs, 6'4", 300 lbs, 6'4", 295 and 6'2" 290 lbs
Their only non-senior QB listed is 6'4", 195 lbs
Their RB's are ALL significantly smaller scat-back types in the 5'8" 175 lbs range
Their WR's are all about the same size as Carrolls, just 5-10 lbs heavier (and probably faster)
Their TE is 6'4" 245
On defense:
Their safeties are in the 6'1", 210 lbs range
Their CB's are short, 5'8 and 5'9" 175 lb range
Their starting DE's are 6'4" 240 and 6'3" 245 (not much bigger than Carroll's)
Their top 3 DL go 290, 290, 265
Their LB's all run 6'1" to 6'2" 230-235 lbs
The real size mismatch is in the trenches. PSU's O-Line is huge compared to Carroll's D-linemen, and conversely Carroll's O-linemen and PSU's D-linemen are roughly the same size. That, a likely speed difference and DEPTH are probably going to make it a long day in Portland for the Saints...
