Saints taking on big (Sky) boys

you didn't. my bad. you said 31-14 PSU. ripping UM though when CC has almost the EXACT same percentage of MT players is pretty hypocritical though.

To my knowledge, Carroll College is the only four year football playing Catholic school in the Pacific Northwest. Why would anybody be surprised that they are heavy on out-of-staters?

MrTitleist says tyler emmert was not a good qb yet he was signed to a free agent contract by the BC Lions of the CFL. so apparently someone in the Lions organization thought he had talent..... amazing......

Being signed to a FA contract in the CFL isn't exactly "making it." How long did he last in the CFL? Oh yeah.. and just because someone is a drop down, doesn't make them talented, that's why they drop down, because they sometimes don't have the talent to play at the level they were recruited for.

what exactly does catholic have to do with playing for CC? pretty sure MVD has had plenty of NON-catholics on his squads over the years. you got the bucks and the grades you can go to CC, Catholic is not an admittance requirement. If you can help CC stay the best program in NAIA football, you can go there. Pretty positive catholic has nothing to do with it. Unless, I'm reading Silvertip's statement wrong.

Geeez!...Talk about your knee-jerk reaction...all I'm saying is they have virtually no competition in a very big recruiting area in which any Catholic kid in WA, OR, AK, ID or MT can play football and still stay close to home. I'm quite sure Van Dist would eagerly welcome any Protestant, Jew, Hindu, Quaker, Shintoist or Rastafarian who can play the game...I have no idea where you came up with that other stuff?... Do you?

PSU will hang 60 on Carroll and it won't be any kind of close. For PSU to schedule a game like this is absurd, there is scheduling down and playing a D2, but to schedule down and play a NAIA? Are you f'ing kidding me?? PSU should be embarrassed.

I agree and the Griz could hang triple digits on Carroll (if they wanted to). PSU will take their foot off the pedal in the 2nd half and the score will be something like 48-13. Carroll will get hammered hard!

I would rather Go To Hell than be a Saint! GOOOOOOO DIGGERS!

Let me know how the temperature is Hammer... Says this Butte guy/Carroll alum! Look, Carroll has good athletes but no where near any depth to hang with PSU. Western loses to ISU by 35 points and I see the Saints scoring but it will be a similar margin. The same arguments for Griz/Tennessee apply here. PSU will have too much talent and too much depth for Carroll to go 60 minutes with them. However, it is exciting to see them step up and play a Big Sky team (players are excited as well)

A comparison I'm using would be how Idaho State and some NAIA teams, I think that's what they are, have had their games turn out:

2010 Idaho State - 32 - 3 - Montana-Western

2007 Idaho State - 37 - 11 - Southern Oregon

2005 Idaho State - 37 - 0 - Montana-Western

2003 Idaho State - 54 - 20 - Montana-Western

2002 Idaho State - 48 - 7 - Montana-Western

I think Portland State can outscore Idaho State and maybe Carroll can defeat Montana-Western, but would the difference proportionally be that much? So, averaging it out: 41.6 to 8.2 sounds about right; at least by the way I see it.

I always assumed you were a UM alum. Did you get a Bachelors degree at one and a Masters at the other?

My dilemma is who to root for in this match up. I grew up in Helena and if i cared who won this game, it would be the first time I ever rooted for either one of these teams ...... Let me think ....
Nope don't care either way ....

The Frontier conference is by far the best conference in the NAIA. Frontier schools get all of the high quality overflow that is left after the Cats and Griz cherry pick the Montana talent. And those are good leftovers! Agree?

Same equivalent as the Griz playing Iowa, Tennessee, or Oregon. I have so much respect for Carroll attempting it, and it probably won't turn out well; but at least they're trying. What-the-hell! All they have to lose is a little pride; and a few limbs. PSU has more to lose than Carroll.

I'd like to think so but I know nothing about the other conferences. How is Saint Xaviers conference?

T-Bird, totally agree that the Frontier is the best conference top to bottom and with expansion, we should start seeing more FC teams in the playoffs. However, just because there a lot of MT kids playing for FC schools and I'm glad they do, the assertion that they should or could hang with the Griz, Cats, PSU or ANY and I said ANY Big Sky team is just dumb. YES, I'm well aware that Sioux Falls, who is Now DII beat North Dakota and I'm well aware that Lindenwood, who is now DII beat Northern Colorado, and I still don't care. I stand on the sidelines for up to eight FC games a year and I've stood on the sidelines for many, many Griz and Bobcat games and the overall speed, size, strength and talent level is staggering. PERIOD.

Take it to the bank....

Saints 24 Vikings 23

And Tech sweeps the Saints next year!

And congrats to me, I just won the lottery....$364 million.

btw....a pony told me.

It's unfortunate that it was scheduled.

And this from having Southern Oregon (9/03) and Willamette (10/22) last year? Willamette? Too bad you couldn't hace gotten a game or two with a couple of those teams from the Great West last year instead. And too bad again that you could't get past those boobscats for a sixth FCS win, but you came close, losing 36 - 38.

A sincere congratulations formergriz!

You have, in one thread, knocked off jcu as the top ignoramus on egriz.

Impressive.
