..although there's some BIG plays by the safeties..overall there seems to ME some weakness
here...when playing top teams we seem to be expose (esp..Sac.St) l don't want to get into smack
(just discussion) here but l would love to see Nash and Mc Ginnis develop..I think there is a lot
of upside with these 2 guys (size and speed)...just me I'm not coaching..just observing!

It appears Sandry is playing hurt and RH is struggling with pass coverage. Need to let the second team guys get some PT!!

From what I've seen Nash Fouch actually has had a lot of playing time this season. I agree there have been some costly errors but it is a young group. Im personally really impressed by the safeties

Hauck definitely needs to improve in his coverage on slot receivers but his help in the run game and ability to get to the quarterback from the safety position is elite. Gavin Robertson flies around the field and hits harder than anyone in the conference. Sundry is a good leader and has made some big plays breaking up passes on the back end. Plus with Fouch and Mcginnis there is a lot to be excited about for this position group going forward!

Hauck has been an absolute beast in run support. I believe his pass coverage will develop and get better

I agree. I think it will come with time and experience. He is only a sophomore and is already playing at an all-big sky level.

Nash is not a safety. Do you mean Fouch?

Fouch has a first name.

I kind of discussed this in another thread, but first of all I think there is a reason that they are not getting PT that fans want. That is a question only coaches could address. We as fans know only what we can see in person or that the TV allows us to see. Both Mcginnis and Fouch are great kids, but there has to be something lacking that we don't see and that the film breakdown does. Also Fouch has played quite a bit.

I also think that the reason for big plays is because of what the safeties are being asked to do. How much scheme relies on the safeties being at their best? In other words, could it be that the defense allows for mistakes at other positions as long as the safeties make them right? If that's the case, it would seem that their job is difficult. How often are they left on an island against a slot? Who is responsible for getting them lined up and making the correct calls? Usually it is a safety. I think the position is difficult, and maybe coaches feel most comfortable with them being able to do the best job, even if it means playing over aggressive and giving up plays once in a while.

Just a few thoughts. Biggest point is we really don't know, but film breakdown would be the answer.

Fouch will be very good. Good size and speed. Hits hard. He is young. He needs more reps. I would like to see him and McGinnis get more reps quite frankly.

Safety play has not been the sole cause of our D secondary breakdowns.

I noticed more than once on Saturday that Calhoun was visibly frustrated pre-snap. Communication issues?
