Sac State - UCLA (12) 8:30

Sac State players and coaches talking smack in todays Sacramento paper. I don't think UCLA read it...

61-37 11:00 remaining in 2nd half, former NAU and PIttsburgh Coach Ben Howland has UCLA program headed back to the top.

Grizbacker: UCLA didn't have any injured players. Their best player Afflalo had 22 points and Farmar (who is projected as entering the draft this year, had 15. They also shot 67% from the field (when its your night, its your night). What killed us was we couldn't make a basket to start the game. They went on an 18-2 run to open. Not many teams will come back from that.

Other than that, I think it was a good wakeup call for our team. We are a good shooting team and the fact that this game was an anomaly for us, you better believe Coach Jenkins is drilling them hard in practice.

Next up for us is Denver. If we pick up the W, we finish non-conf. 9-5, our best record ever for non-conf. in our Div. I history.

GO HORNETS!

BTW, since you guys are off to a 10-1 start, congrats and I cannot wait for our two, possible more battles this year.

Sacto,

I think you are wrong on the Bruin injury list. they have a couple big men injured and have gone small pretty much all season. I agree with your thoughts. I do think Sac might have thought they were maybe better than they are going into the game. Either way, a game like that will do nothing but help them. Your new guy, Leath (sp) seems to be a hell of a shooter. You guys also have a great homecourt advantage in that crackerbox gym. I am glad you are getting a new facility.

A game like that will only help in the future. You have to think, at the time, the Stanford win for you guys was like that, before you knew you would have a 10-1 start and the Cards would stumble.

But, UCLA is legit. I would not be surprised to see them in the Elite Eight or even the Final Four. I just wished it would have been closer, like 10 points. I thought after the way we played Nevada, after leading, losing the lead and battling back to an eight point loss, we would have shot just as well against the Bruins. Oh well, next game.

Good luck, I like watching Jenkins go nuts on the sideline, sometimes he is better than the game. :thumb:
