Sac State Regular Season Predictions

Sac State had the hardest strength of schedule in the BSC for their 2019 championship. It included wins over EWU, @MSU, and UM over a three week stretch, which put them in the national spotlight.

Cut them some slack, K. Speaking of a rented mule, if I were a griz fan I'd want to forget that 49-22 beating in 2019 too...and that was to cap that 3 game stretch. Hornetsports shows that EWU was ranked 22nd, MSU 6th, and UM 5th when they took those L's. Hell of a 3 game stretch that was for us.

Hornetsports? At least use a real website. There’s no way Hornetsports exists.

Yeah that's some make-believe shit right there. Much like Ursa's "third sac state fan", it's as real as a pink panther (not the one's you used to coach; those were legit as hell).

Purple Mermaids, but the point stands. These one-off fan bases come out of the woodwork to try to lead us to their made-up sites. Next, it'll be some Portland A&M or North Antonio fan trying to get up to go to pen island dot com.

Point of inquiry: If California has a state law that forbids state funded travel to 22 states that it deems are not with the LGBT and whatever alphabet soup labels I have left off, how they gonna get to Montana, Idaho, Utah, or any other place to play their games?

I think they plan to hold public make out sessions on the steps of every city hall in Montana in an effort to change the face of local politics in the Treasure State. I hope you like plant-based bacon and cruelty-free cowboy boots, because they're bringing those, too. I've heard some rumblings that they are preying on easily influenced populations to spread their sick views. I live amongst these people, and I can tell you they wake up in the morning thinking only of ways to radically change places like Great Falls, MT. Might as well get used to non-binary chicken wings now so it makes the transition smoother.

Of course, there's also the possibility that they will just show up, play the game, and leave due to an existing contractual obligation which is an enumerated exception to the law.

Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water. Great Falls might benefit from some “radical change”…. 8-)

As long as all those radical Californians (who are all the same) get the people of Great Falls to play the Trans-National Anthem and stop keeping score at sporting events, I'll be able to eat my vegan quinoa in peace.

Alright, happy Big Sky media days everyone! It's finally starting to feel like Football season, and fall camp is right around the corner! We're down to our final 3 conference previews, and today we got the back to back conference champs in Sac State who have been mighty successful in Troy Taylor's first 2 seasons at the helm. This year looks to be no different for the Hornets as they will be strongly in the mix to win the conference title once again. They return both QB's (Jake Dunniway and Asher O'Hara) from a very prolific offense that has the potential to be even better this season. Sac State hasn't had one of the strongest defenses in the conference, and if they can figure that out this season and take a step forward, they got the potential to be natty contenders IMO. With that, let's dive in!

September 3 vs. Utah Tech - W. Formerly Dixie State, this will complete a home and home with the 2 teams. Utah Tech is still trying to find their footing in D1, and I don't see Sac State dropping this game at home, especially since they beat them down in Dixie last year. Hornets roll.

September 10 BYE. This could really come back to bite them in the ass.

September 17 @ Northern Iowa - W. You know what? Give me the win in this one. I was gonna predict a Sac State loss in this one, since they lost to UNI at home last season, but UNI has a bunch of question marks and I think Sac State goes on the road and wins this game. Close game though IMO.

September 24 @ Colorado State - L. I really want to pick Sac to win this game, cause CSU has been such dog shit, but I do think the Rams will be much improved under new head coach Jay Norvell coming over from Nevada. Norvell has brought in a ton of transfers, and has landed some top tier transfers that could definitely make them relevant again as soon as this season. Give me the Rams in a close one.

October 1 @ Cal Poly - W. 3 consecutive road games isn't exactly appealing, but Sac should be just fine in this one.

October 8 vs. Northern Colorado - W. Should be no problem for Sac in this one.

October 15 @ Eastern Washington - W. I think this could be a tricky game for SAC. They have not been to Eastern since Troy Taylor took over. That said, Eastern has shown me nothing so far this offseason that makes me believe they can win these types of games this season. Sac wins by 10+.

October 22 vs. Montana - W. I really hate to do this. When I did the Griz at the start of our previews, I picked Sac to win this game, and unfortunately I'm gonna have to stick with this game until we can prove to ourselves we can beat these guys. I think we are more than capable of winning this game, but until I see both of these teams on the field I gotta go with Sac. Man I hope I'm wrong though, I'm planning on going to this game with my GF who just move to MT from Sacramento

October 29 vs. Idaho - W. The Vandy's aren't ready to go toe to toe with Sac.

November 5 @ Weber State - L. If there were a conference road game that they could drop, I think it may be this one. Sac State could very realistically go undefeated in conference play, and I wouldn't be shocked if they did, but Weber is the only team so far in the conference that has beaten Troy Taylor. That said, I think they take a close road loss in this one.

November 12 @ Portland State - W. I kind of mentioned last week with PSU that I thought this could be a potential spoiler game, but Sac State IMO is just too good to lose this game. Hornets should roll.

November 19 vs. UC Davis - W. The Causeway Classic has the potential to be really good this year. Could Sac be hoisting a third consecutive Big Sky trophy on the 19th? This has the potential to be a massively important game in the seeding picture for the playoffs. Sac wins a close one at home.

--------------------------------------------------

I have Sac State going 9-2, and I do think they can be anywhere between 11-0 and 7-4, but I don't see them going 7-4 and that would be massively disappointing if they did. I really don't think 11-0 is that far out of reach for them. They've got the potential to be very dangerous this year. Watch out for the Hornets to 3-peat. Thoughts????

I can see the Hornets coming into Fort Collins and beating the Rams. I think CSU is in better hands with their new coaching staff (especially DC they got from Montana State), but I think it will be bumpy start for them as well. They did get some key transfers in, but also lost some top guys to the portal.

They can get a guide from their Governor who recently vacationed in MT. A lot of hypocrites in CA, especially in the public sector.

a lot of hypocrites everywhere, even some actively being so in this thread.

The governor is a douche. The politics in CA suck. No doubts about that.

But it’s still better than Montana. Where there’s nothing much to do aside but root for an FCS football program, shoot guns and shovel snow. Yippee for you guys!

Notice you said “vacation in MT”. Not “live in MT”. There’s good reason why nearly 40M people live in CA versus barely 1M live in your barren State.

Montana residents poking fun at … well, anybody else in the U.S. is pretty effing hilarious. Keep up the food fight though!

Yeah, without playing MSU or EWU, and us with our clearly inferior backup QB.

UM, MSU and EWU were all better teams by the end of the year.

You're just chock full of excuses and shoulda coulda wouldas, aren't you?

How about coming back reality with the rest of us??

I mean, if we're gonna make absolute statements that can't possibly be backed up or proven -- I'll get in the act and say that SAC ST would have rolled ALL three of those teams at the end of the year. Because I can't be proven wrong!

Thing is, SAC ST did beat UM. On their home turf. And have won 2 in a row. So at least predicting that the Hornets would roll UM has some real merit to it.

But by all means go back to your excuse making and shoulda coulda wouldas. We all know there ain't much else to do in Montana. ;)

Dang, it sure seems like everyone agrees with me.

I'm sorry the truth hurts you so much.

Maybe if you guys do make it three in a row this season you can actually win a playoff game this time. :thumb:

Thanks for coming onto the Montana football forum seeking validation from a bunch of Montanans whose opinions you claim you don't care about! :thumb:

Not being a douche but kinda reminding you of your place…

2018
Sac St 2 wins
UM 6 wins

2019
Sac St 1st rd playoff loss(minus your bye)
UM Quarter finals

2021
Sac St 1st rd playoff loss(minus your bye)
UM Quarter finals

Not that I’m happy with quarterfinals losses but somebody’s obviously doing a little more with their recent success then someone else.

Yeah, you kinda are being a douche. Because you're being selective. And forgetting YOUR current place. Which has been looking UP at the Hornets in the standings for the past couple seasons.

I suppose if my team had been outscored 77-43 the past couple games by an opponent -- I'd want to forget about it too.

You can choose to live in the distant past, if you want. The Hornets surely weren't very good for many years and your Griz were. But recent events and the here and now are what's most important no?

Last anyone checked, SAC ST is back-to-back conference champs. Montana isn't. SAC STATE has 2 wins over UM.
Hate it all you want, but that's the reality. You get the W this season and win the conference, you get bragging rights back. But until then, you need to be "reminded of your place", right?

Lastly, as for you selectively pushing your quarterfinals appearances as if they somehow trump the head-to-head matchups and conference titles --- answer me this. Did you have to play South Dakota State as the Hornets did?? Nope. If you did, you'd most likely have been out earlier too.

Again, I can see why you'd want to tout advancing to the QF versus having to discuss the head-to-head loss, at home, to SAC ST or the fact that you didn't win conference. It's just pretty disingenuous.

I absolutely do care, as you guys are a great source of comedic relief! And you're certainly welcome.

BTW, you guys really need to stop inventing your own reality. Perhaps it's the effects of marijuana, as it recently got legalized there??
