Sac State In-game thread

The only thing that marred the game was the most obvious goal tend on the face of the earth that was not called a goal tend.

But in case you missed it the ugly no call was overshadowed by the fantastic play of Kevin Criswell who could be named all conference for his play in this one game only.

He was everywhere on both the offensive and defensive end.

It was a fun performance to watch and anyone who did not see this game missed out big time.

You can blame the crowd on whatever you want. I just find it hard to believe that out of the 23,000 that would show up for a griz football game if it was in a hurricane, that 7000 of them cant come out and watch a darn good basketball team.

Sad thing is, is that senior night is on a monday night, so I guess that people will sit at home instead of coming out and giving their all cheering one last time for a few players who give their all for the fans every night they hit the court.

It might be the fans last shot at getting to watch the likes of a Kevin Criswell. We all know they don't come along every day. It might be the last shot you have to show your appreciation for Virgil Matthews for the effort he puts forth, and the way he carries himself. And it might be your last shot to come out and give big John Seyfert one last standing ovation. Injury and all he still embodies what Grizzly basketball is all about.

We all know that the cozy confines of washington grizzly are good for a few points a game for the football team. I've gotta believe that 7000+ fans in Dahlberg Arena could be good for more then just a few points. And on that last monday night, it might be worth more to a few individuals who have dedicated their lives to this point to a GAME, so that we could enjoy watching them.

But in the end thats just my :twocents:

I was hoping for a better crowd myself, but given the weather forecast and the game being mid-week, I understand why there were fewer in attendance. I think the fans will be out in force Saturday and Monday.

BTW, did anyone else get to the game early enough to watch Sac. State practice break away dunks and layups for 25 minutes?? Was a little confused when I saw that.

Although I will say one thing. Man those boys can jump out of the gym. I havent seen someone get up like that since my high school days. Just joking, I got that tall white guy syndrome.

Sac State though is a very dangerous individual, I mean team. They have great individuals, just dont play well as a team. Bausley(sp?) is a great player. I gained a lot of respect for him last night. Unlike a lot of his team (J. Harris) he showed some class on the court. He didnt scream and yell over every basket he made or every foul he got. The only time I saw him get upset, was when the 2nd man off the bench took the final shot. He was in the right being mad there. He is a great player, and if I was the coach, which I am not, everything in that offense would run through him. And nothing in my offense would go through J. Harris.

Harris is a great player but is truly an ass-completely selfish and pouted EVERY time he came off the court. I saw him yelling at the head coach. I heard him say "I wanna play, coach".

Yeah Jason, lot's of people want to play. Only some people play by the rules and go to class etc. He obviously will never get it. Seems like Sac never will either. They have the most athletic and talented team almost every year, but have little chemistry and zero discipline. They had 28 baskets and only 4 assists. It's all street-ball, just chuck it, no passing, no offense, just try and out-athlete the other team, and it doesn't usually work.

They are definalte scary and I would not want to play them in the BSC tourney.
