Sac State fires Jody Sears

Will Tye apply?

If he does, I know who he better be reaching out to for his OC...the same guy who brought him back to UM and gave him a second chance after the fiasco in Boulder. Would be a proper and appropriate payback.

Betting on Angus McClure being who they bring in as head coach.

That would be a huge get for Sac. Dude can recruit like a freaking boss. He was the last man standing through several regimes at UCLA, and is among the most personable people I've ever met. I think he might get a shot at the FBS level, however. I don't know if his alma mater will land him this time around. I hope so.

EDIT to change "next level" for "FBS level" for clarity.

I wouldn’t touch this job with a 10 foot pole, but I’m wondering if a guy like Johnny Nansen applies. He was rumored to have applied for the MSU job a few years ago and things are pretty rocky at usc right now.

Not being argumentive and I am genuinely curious. Why wouldn’t you touch it with a 10 foot pole? Poor school, tough to recruit in Cali, bad reputation and no current talent, not enough money, poor facilities? Maybe all of the above? I can think of worse places to coach. I found your comments intriguing

He is currently the assistant head coach/ O line coach at Nevada; his son Hamish is a freshman QB at Sac State (played in a few games this year)

McClure would be a huge get for sac state, unsure if having his son on the team helps or hurts the chances.

Sears will be a DC in FCS in 2020, guaranteed. Sounds like he’ll be paid for 2019 by SAC if he decides to take a year off...

I know where he is currently. I just don't know if a HC job at Sac State will be enough for him to change his trajectory. I hope he's interested and takes it. He would definitely be a plus for that program.

Interesting bio; looks like a natural for the job; would likely have to take a pay cut, not unlike Hauck.

I would bet Sac pays more than UM...just a pure guess.
