Sac State at Montana: Official Game Thread

The boys deserved that one, worked their asses off on D. You can see why TD brought in Samuelson, he (and KO) did a great job denying Patton who has wrecked us in the past. Sac doesn't give anything easy either and Patton is a real rim protector by Big Sky standards. Couldn't buy a bucket in the first half and got killed on the glass, but only 3 TOs.
To House's point I think Owens can be a double digit scorer as he gains confidence. The guys need more back cuts and motion when Pridgett isos, he's a good passer and he needs to be a little more patient, several Tos when he forced it against double and triple teams. I imagine everyone we play will do it on D.
Glad to see them get a W on pure grit, they were swimming upstream for 35 minutes and managed to eke one out. It's going to be a learning process all year.

Riley mentioned that the Officiating crew was veteran and all three had tourney experience (two of them quite a bit.) It showed tonight as they really let the guys play. Not much for ticky-tack fouls either way. It was refreshing overall.

Not a bad Monday/holiday crowd. Dreadful shooting in the first half. Hell, we didn’t attempt a free throw in the first half. I didn’t really notice Timmy tonight. Thought Vasquez had too many bad shots early in the shot clock. Owens and Samuelson kept us above water the first 20 min. Seemed like the Refs mostly swallowed their whistles which was a nice change. Ugly, gritty win, and it’s beautiful to be 2-0!

I was watching the end of that game, looked away for a couple of seconds, after the game they were separating the teams at mid court, then the video cut out. Anyone see what happened?

That's what happens when you play the trailer park boys. Speaking of, I wonder if golden shower will drop in tonight and tell us the Griz suck, again. :|

I realize you know nothing about the EAGS team this year. Being a University of Montana graduate, and research affiliate, I have a little interest in UM athletics. I have watched UM many times this year. UM is a solid, average-skilled BSC team that relies on one player. A plucky, average team that will win a few BSC games this year and give egriz a lot to post about.

Idk if any of you noticed this last night, but the reason why this game came down to the wire was because we didn’t get into the bonus until we were inside a minute to play. Sac State had 6 team fouls with about 12 minutes to play and then didn’t pick up their 7th until inside a minute. That’s part of the reason it came down to the wire. It could’ve been over much earlier if they would’ve gotten that 7th foul.

I was impressed with both teams very low FG %, was like who put the lid on the basket, are the Griz this bad, my guess an off night. So, I switched over to watch the LGriz, wow have they improved!!

Before the game, I turned to the new kid from the Missoulian and the new kid from NBC and said, 'Boys, we are in luck. We have one of the only good officiating crews that ever gets sent to Missoula for this one tonight."

Nice game for Samuelson! He looked tired and a bit banged up most of the game. Refs allowed him to play physical inside. Was surprised how he limited Patton for Sac State for much of the game.

Ironic that for all the talk surrounding the Griz' frosh class it appears all three seniors will be the keys to their season's success.

And....two of them are from Billings, MONTANA!!
