I realize you know nothing about the EAGS team this year. Being a University of Montana graduate, and research affiliate, I have a little interest in UM athletics. I have watched UM many times this year. UM is a solid, average-skilled BSC team that relies on one player. A plucky, average team that will win a few BSC games this year and give egriz a lot to post about.

Why not be this reasonable all the time?

You might be able to engage in a lot of decent conversations, on the basketball threads, without the rancor and bomb throwing.
Go back through my basketball posts and find where I threw bombs. I remember two or three seasons ago telling the egriz posters to slow down on the hype, because early in conference play the teams the griz had beat were a collective 0 and 9. That seemed to unhinge many sensitive people on egriz. Then of course it was followed by the normal attacks some egriz posters throw about.

So what you’re telling me is that there are zealous Griz fans on e-Griz—the University of Montana fan board site?

I don’t believe you.

Give the guy a break. He graduated from UM and still chooses to be an Eastern fan. He's clearly got a screw or two loose.

Riley mentioned that the Officiating crew was veteran and all three had tourney experience (two of them quite a bit.) It showed tonight as they really let the guys play. Not much for ticky-tack fouls either way. It was refreshing overall.

Before the game, I turned to the new kid from the Missoulian and the new kid from NBC and said, 'Boys, we are in luck. We have one of the only good officiating crews that ever gets sent to Missoula for this one tonight."

I can only imagine that is because it was a Monday game? Either way, I won't complain, it was nice to not have 30+ fouls in the first 15 minutes.

I chatted briefly with one of the officials at a local establishment, an hour or so after the game. His initial response: A great, hard-fought game between two excellent defensive teams whose coaches and players respected each other... easy to ref as a result. He didn't say so in precise language, but indicated he highly respects coach DeCuire and hinted that he thought the Griz would be in the thick of things by season's end. He said DeCuire was much like past Montana coaches whose games he'd officiated. "I have great respect for coach Tinkle, and his son," he said. He then paused, laughed, and said, "In fact, I'm heading straight down I-15 for my next game on Thursday." The game: Oregon State at Utah. "He laughed again: "Three coaches from the Montana tree in three days." Note: Just a casual conversation... the quotes are not precise, but accurately convey what he said.

That was a great crew. I have never said that in the history of forever.

Would it f***[*] kill you to pick up some pretzels before the next home game?

And perhaps you can explain how my bed smelled like Russia last night?

Fantastic pretzel dip!
LMAO!
Well, at least we know there is good beer in the fridge.
I don't know, I woke up with a headache from the beer and a cankor sore from the pretzels...I think. :?

Only four guys score and we still win? Amazing. I’ll take it!
Five Players scored.
So who else? ESPN Box shows only Samuelson (17), Pridgett (14), Manuel (13) and Owens (8). That's 52, so where did ESPN mis-credit a shot?

Edit: Okay, checked goGriz.com. Looks like ESPN may have credited a Vazquez bucket (3-pointer) to Samuelson. Or did they? Not a big deal, but which is correct?

I watched the game and am pretty sure I saw Vasquez hit a three. :?

I wondered the same because I was sure Vasquez hit a triple mid second half on a tough shooting outing.

It was corrected sometime after the game. they gave it to Samuelson at first. If you want proof, go watch the highlights of the game on gogriz.com. It shows Vasquez's 3 pointer.

Of course you saw Vazquez hit a trey... and these highlights prove it... precisely at the .28 second mark.
