Using your figures (I never counted heads of sheep) that means there are 1 sheep for every 5 people in Montana. Only 1 sheep for every 64 people in California......guess you get a bit more intimate with your sheep.......BTW.....out here we call them "ewes" unlike in Montana where they call them "honey, baby, sugar or Mrs." Also...Applebee's may be too formal for you guys, stick to Denny's....and scrape your boots at the border please...

Shortsighted analysis. The sheep in CA are confined to the inland NorCal counties and thus concentrated in a smaller land area than in Montana. While this drastically increases the sheep per person (SPP) figure, SPP isn't determinative. Land area per sheep (sheep concentration) laid over human population concentration is a much better measure of human/sheep interaction. As you and I both know, CA takes the cake there.

Thanks for the tip re: Applebee's.

Man you have alot of knowledge about sheep.....must be lonely in Montana

I don't live in Montana.

Still have a lot of knowledge about sheep.....

You know the beat down has been full and complete when the only comeback sacto can repeatedly provide is "sheep".

They got the folding chairs set up in the yoga studio yet?

Not sheep. Sheep population density in Northern California. It's good to have knowledge. You never know when you might have to make some fan of a Parsley Program look like an idiot.

OK Statesman, I'll take you up on this (IF the tourney is in Sacramento and IF I can break free to get there). Post a list of decent budget hotels, some nice places to eat, some great watering holes that'll tolerate Griz fans, and perhaps some other "stuff to do" in Sacramento. I don't mind attending the tourney in a rec center. For the pure love of hoops...

Geez.....I'm not a travel agent......

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Ha!
Best coffee place: Starbucks.
Best Fine Food: In and Out Burger.
Best Bar: Applebees (the one in the strip mall in South Sac).

I've been lurking here for a while and enjoying the banter back and forth. I am not the type of person to get into a pissing match over teams, so I'll leave that to the others here. However, the quotes above were bothering me and I just have to add my two-cents.

When you come to Sac for the tournament, stay at either the Citizen Hotel, Grand Sheraton, or the Hyatt. They are all downtown and within walking distance to food and drinks. If you want coffee, head to Temple Coffee or Old soul--they have some of the best coffee in the world (look it up, it's true!). If you want fine dining, head to Ella or Biba. If you want regular good food, we have tons within walking distance of the hotels. If you want a sports bar, head to Firestone Public house. There are tons of food/drink/entertainment options outside of the standard national chain options.

You'll have a good time in Sacramento--and you can even leave your thermals at home! Fee free to PM if you have more detailed questions.

never in the history of college message boards has 1 post ever fully captured the entirety of a school and fan base as well as this one does. No knowledge or pride in his community, no hospitality whatsoever. Having never imagined anyone in their right mind would ever want to visit his community, and having never before been asked, he has never even given a thought to what he would recommend to anyone who asked.

Had GJ asked what is the best commute route to get from a mobile home park to "Campus", and which lot to park in that gets you out of there fastest after 1 class, I am sure sacstateman would have had an eloquent answer.

Thanks you sacstateman for reinforcing all stereotypes of your school and fans.
Nice work, G-Beer!!

Like any of you clowns would take the time to read any travel/eatery recommendations he posted anyways.

Plenty of stuff to do in Sac. Plenty of gastro pubs in Mid Town, clubs in downtown, stuff to do for the kids at various museums and historical places not far from downtown (assuming that is where people stay). Even a special place for EverettGriz and CDA to go out on a date (you guys will love to hit up the joints near 20th and K, its FABULOUS!!!). Something for everyone.

It’s not hard to Google or Yelp places that tickle your fancy. (You guys do have that in montucky right?) :?

Why are you being such a jerk????? Out-of-town fans ask similar questions about Missoula dozens of times a year -- and, every single time, a variety of people reply to the questions. It's simply a civilized thing to do.

I think that when you have never really had athletic success, all these questions seem to overwhelm you I guess. For the league, it is a shame we may have to have our Big Sky tourney in a rec center. Pretty embarrassing.

Saying this situation is "pretty embarrassing" is akin to saying the models in the SI Swimsuit Issue are "kinda cute".

68griz, I agree with your point about out of towners asking about Missoula, but that happens when an out of towner comes to this board and asks the Griz faithful for advise........that didn't happen here......I offered to buy CDA a hot dog or a beer if he came to the tournament in Sac, then he asked me for info about Sac at which time I told him I wasn't a travel agent but gave him a web site he could look at to get his info......then he and Everettgriz started to ridicule me to which I stupidly responded....If CDA actually needed advise he could have gone to our board and he would have been helped with any advice he really needed......As the conversation proves later, he obviously knows Sacramento (or so he tries to imply) so I surmise he was only looking for something to criticize. The situation spun out of control and when SD Hornet stepped in he was trying to settle it down. If you want to call someone a jerk I guess you can single me out as I was dumb enough to take the bait, but Everettgriz and CDA haven't been the classiest of Griz backers either.

Give me a break. Plenty of pot shots being taken at Sac, I was just matching responses in kind. There is legitimate info supplied with some snarkiness to keep the flame war going. Besides if we host, best believe I’m down to buy the first beer. :thumb:

The point is moot if we can’t take care of business this week.

OK, I'll give you your 1 fan said our gym looked like a high school gym.....I probably won't see you in Sac......but if you do come I would be happy to meet you and buy you a hot dog or a beer....

It was a legitimate and respectful request.

And my reply was real....I did get GrizzleyJounal mixed up because he was the one who answered back to my offer of a hot dog or beer to Everettgriz...

Sacstatesman: I do NOT talk or write smack. I usually enjoy the eGriz hoops boards because they're populated with fans who love basketball. But UM, and Missoula and its citizens, have a reputation for treating out-of-towners (whether football fans or hoops fans) as welcomed guests. They'll go out of their way to provide guests a legit good time.

I'd been a bit bemused, and then somewhat more alarmed in recent years, to find that folks in Cheney would largely (probably not everyone) go out of their way to prevent Montana fans from attending games, or even visiting Cheney (this is truth and there are a lot of stories). I learned that firsthand myself recently while trying to get tickets to the recent Griz-Eagles game. A good friend had a similar negative experience with the recent women's game in Cheney.

Simply put, it makes sense to be a welcoming host to visitors. Economic sense, fan sense, Big Sky Conf. sense. So, the comment, "Geez, I'm not a travel agent," certainly continued to put the focus of other Big Sky schools in a negative light... to me personally, at least.

IF the tourney is held in Sacramento (and that's still a big IF to me), then I'll seriously consider trying to claim one of the available 3000 seats... and will ask the advice of others for some good places to frequent while in Sacramento. I truly do hope Griz fans will get a better welcome than we have in Cheney over the past few years.

So you really had nothing at all to recommend as far as where to stay/eat/things to see in Sacramento?

Sacstateguy, I assume you are Californian and should know better. No Californian would consume a low life thing like nitrate filled hot dogs. Those, we save for the millions of tourists who line up at Pinks in LA, while the rest of have Kogi, tacos and Dim Sum. Sacto is an ok place, just a bit more cosmopolitan than Fresno but, let's be honest, here, Chico is the place in el Norte....Is Zorba's still open downtown?
