Thanks Crunch, that is what I thought. Just goes to show you that discipline problems at one school, no matter how small they might seem, say something about the charecter of the student athlete. The Griz ended up with one of BYU's headaches for awhile. I am sure they are glad he is no longer thier headache.

The Griz seemed to do just fine without him.
 
Don't forget, he had a cup of coffee with Sac State before 'forgetting to turn in some paperwork'.

Check it out BYU just lost several HUGE recruits when they were taken in for a huge Inquisition of Honor Code violations that took place during their official visit. I heard several were caught at StarBucks. One WR chaperon is also leaving because of these Gestapo like tactics.

I wish he'd remove that stuff about his "full ride to UM." He wasn't even quality enough to get on the playing field.. he really never even made it to the practice field. I'm not really talking about quality of football, rather, individual...

A sports radio report by Hans Olsen, a former BYU player who is a talk show host on 1280 AM The Zone, implicated five-star recruit Manti Te'o. Last weekend, Te'o, widely regarded as the top prep linebacker in the country, said he had narrowed his college choices to three — USC, UCLA and Notre Dame — and eliminated BYU from consideration.

According to Olsen's report, Te'o did not reject BYU, but rather, BYU rescinded its scholarship offer because of a violation of the honor code.

However, Te'o's father, Brian, contacted Monday night by the Deseret News, and Te'o himself, adamantly denied any involvement in the incident referenced by Mendenhall in his statement.

"(Manti) heard some of the rumors going around, but he wasn't involved," said Brian. "He loves Bronco. He loved the campus. Manti decided not to go to BYU based on criteria he'd set for himself."

Jenkins said the honor code review indicated that recruits were not involved in the misconduct.

It appears head football coach Gary Crowton and his assistants did not know the recruits were at the party. "The university has no indication that he did," Jenkins said.

Why the coaches didn't know the recruits and players were there is one subject of the new review, which comes as the NCAA told Congress Thursday that it needs to do more to police recruiting practices and a week after the University of Colorado changed its recruiting policies.

Crowton, Heperi and BYU men's athletic director Val Hale referred all questions to Jenkins.

Thursday's decision puts the football careers of four players in limbo, especially Brathwaite, if he was dismissed or suspended. According to NCAA rule 14.5.1.3, an athlete disqualified or suspended for disciplinary reasons by one member school cannot play for "any NCAA institution" until he or she completes one calendar year of residence at the new institution.

The BYU honor code is about as cool as herpes.

That school is getting what it deserves. The whole Mormon ostracization angle is more played out than aviator shades.

I have known several former BYU football players and two coaches. My wife graduated from there. You are not going to be kicked out of BYU for drinking coffee, ESPECIALLY not a football player. It's not going to happen. I would be willing to bet my life that there is alot more to this than him drinking coffee. My wife literally laughed at the suggestion. And I hate BYU football more than any other team, so I am certainly no BYU fan. If they lost evry game by 100 it wouldn't be enough for me. There is not team that a USU fan hates more than BYU not even Utah, I can't believe I have defended them, but what you say is ridiculous even for BYU.

Plus, when he decided to go there he knew what he was getting into as far as thier honor code goes. He AGREED to it. I have been a member of the LDS church since I was 23, and I would never want to go to BYU. But Kessman signed on the dotted line there for a free education knowing full well what he was getting into. If he didn't want to do that he could have went alot of other places.

Then he throws away another good opportunity at UM where there is no such honor code. Strike two.
Maybe Kessman is the problem not BYU, not UM or anyone else. Quit making excuses for him and let him grow up. What is his (and your) excuse for him not being succesful at UM? What do you tell people that aren't that familiar with the UM program why he is no longer there?
 
This thread is really sad, a bunch of you "good fans" (TheBud) are bashing a student athlete, calling him on his behavior and mocking him in a public forum.

This is not cool to do and you all should be banned for having your own opinion on this subject, maybe you need a refresher course from the PlayerRep on what you can and can't say.

This is flat out despicable and you should all be ashamed of yourselves.
 
When did Kessman get kicked out of BYU? This is like the wispered comment that passes from person to person and ends up being totally different than the original comment.

Kessman got into hot water with the Coach for breaking rules. He was put on temporary suspension (2 weeks I think) and ordered to run the hill and report for extra weight practice. He decided after that to ask for his release and transfer. He was back on the team when he decided to transfer.
 
Your right Kessman decided to leave because of the Nazi questioning of not only him but 21 others of something that didn't happen. And it's happening again right now to the point that Mendenhall is going to his house to apologize to him and his family.
