11----Trent McKinney--------- RS SO------ Quarterback------ 6-0---198-- Miliani, Hawaii (Miliani HS)
6----- Adam Brzeczek ---------RS SO------ Quarterback------ 6-0---195-- Queen Creek, Ariz. (Stanford)
3----- Brady Gustafson-------- RS FR------ Quarterback------ 6-7---240-- Billings, Mont. (Billings West)
19----Shay Smithwick-Hann-- RS JR------ Quarterback------ 6-4---210-- Kalispell, Mont. (Glacier HS)
------ Max Shortell------------- JR TR------ Quarterback------ 6-6---237-- Shawnee Mission, KS (Minnesota)

That is a lot of QB's for spring drills. Just saying.

And let's not forget Makena Simis coming in the fall who is more along the lines of Trent and Adam.

Crap, I forgot about him. Shouldn't have.

This has to mean we're either moving a QB out of a position or losing one or two. No way does a team need 6 QBs

The interesting thing is all of the QBs have used up their RS years. So none of them will really want to sit out a year. I'm guessing SSH will either transfer down or switch to TE. I could see McKinney maybe transferring. If we are switching the type of offense we run he doesn't really fit in. The rest will probably stay. Maybe Makena decides not to come.

The 20-year-old sophomore couldn't inquire about possible destinations until receiving his release from the Gophers, but he has studied schools that run offenses that better fit his 6-foot-6 frame and pocket-passer arm.
"There are some pro-style offenses there," said his father, Tom Shortell, "and there are people who know Max would be a good fit."
That's as opposed to the Gophers' zone-read offense, which frequently calls for the quarterback to tuck the ball away and scramble downfield. While his son is "sneaky fast," Shortell said, "they like to run a shorter, more mobile style of quarterback."

The quarterback's experience at such a young age -- 15 games played, five starts, 53.5 completion percentage, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions as a freshman and sophomore -- should earn him a scholarship somewhere.
Shortell preferred to remain vague about potential matches, saying his son expects to hear from recruiters now that the Gophers have announced his departure.

Looks like a quick spread QB to me :thumb:

Looks more like a pocket-passer. Makes me wonder if Gragg/Kfense is going more to a pro-style like we had before.

You know that is the plan. :thumb:

Not picking on you, but I see this all the time "Pro Style vs Spread" Please define for me your defintion of Pro Style offense?

Just updated the title so to prevent confusion. This came to me via twitter that the Minnesota sports radio KFAN was talking about it and I found a blog site discussing it as well.

Especially if Jordan Johnson returns.

And Tanner Rodderick...or can we put that to rest now?

I believe that Brian Bennett is better then Trod & this Shortell kid from what I have seen on film.
I dont see a reason to vacate the Zone read/Spread that we run. We just need the right trigger man.
Unless I am mistaken did we not finish in the top 10 nation wide in rushing? Why would you change that?

What is THIS? Are you referring to the game film on Shortell?
