Rough road trip costs Griz three spots in poll

Montana's two losses last week dropped the Grizzlies three spots to No. 17 in the most recent CollegeInsider.com Mid-major poll.

The Grizzlies had road losses at Weber State and Northern Arizona in Big Sky play, which also dropped the Griz out of the top spot in the conference.

St. Mary's re-took the top spot in the poll after a one-week absence. Cleveland State fell from first to sixth after a 1-1 week.

Northern Colorado, the team that overtook Montana in the conference standings, received votes and is the only other Big Sky school represented in the poll.

Good point on the size of the losses. On the other hand, for the past couple of days I have been wondering who in the conference has a good in-conference road win, i.e., a road win against one of the upper tier teams?

The nominee's would have to be either Montana winning at Montana State, or Weber State winning at Northern Arizona

I didn't realize Weber had won at NAU. I think that's probably better than our win at MSU.

Weber has had a little magic this year, or as Randy Rahe would say, "The Basketball Gods smiled upon us today"

Lindsey Hughey hit a falling out of bounds 3 pointer as the shot clock expired to lead Weber to a 68-67 win over NAU in Flagstaff.

The top 5 teams in the conference have lost a total of four games on their home floors all year. They are combined 44-4 at home. And of those 5 teams, only one (Montana at 6-6) has a .500 record on the road. MSU is 8-1 at home, 1-11 on the road.

I'd say it's a little tough to win on the road at the top BSC teams.
