Roster updated?

Looks like good depth across the board (minus DT). 14 safeties...

The weights listed are from last fall. I'm sure Brown and Ambeuhl weigh more now, but how much more? Any chance a DE slides over?

I keep a position roster on my home office wall (365). Lol

One good thing about a lot of safeties is that they can be used (also linebackers) on special teams because they run well and are good tacklers.

The reality is we run a defense with 2 safeties plus a hybrid safety/linebacker that is typically more of a safety. As a result, we will carry more safeties than most teams and likely less linebackers.

Careful here. I literally asked him(Taber)on Twitter why he can’t get the roster updated last year, and that I’d do it for him if he needed help and he blocked me. Still blocked :lol:

Not familiar with the name, so I checked the Directory. While into the Directory, I looked for Engstrom. None. Nada. Fart in the wind GONE! :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: Made my day. Ah, well, gotta get back to the lake. :lol:

If true, this is great news! :thumb: Long past time to happen. How long will it take to overcome the ill effects of his influence?

Peyton Brammer Is also not on the roster. I’m thinking he was gonna GS this year and that might be why. I know sometimes GS’s aren’t listed like Kaschmitter was not listed some of last year. Hoping this is the case cus the kid was a steal as a 3* recruit to play TE for us.

You are right in that Grey Shirts are not listed on the roster their first Fall, because they are not part of the team yet. They become part of the team the following Spring and thus can be listed then.

Do we know for sure if Brammer is grey shirting? He was a big commit so I'd be surprised if the 3-star tight end is grey shirting. Levi Crum, the other Hockinson High School player, is listed on the roster as a walk-on. Would appreciate any confirmation on this, thanks.

Almost positive he’s grey shirting. He got pretty hurt which is why he was passed on by other big programs. Sounds like we were lucky to land him because of that. I’m sure he’s still making a comeback from injury.

Update: this article said he would be grey shirting in 2020 due to the injury.

He's no longer listed in the Chemistry faculty; I presume he worked off the rest of his contract there and then it was not renewed. Gave him time to write his memoirs, "How to Furk Up a Good University Without Really Trying."

I agree. That was pretty funny.

My view is that the safeties are strong, and probably have some depth. Also, both of the Oregon St. transfers can play safety if needed, as that's most of what they played at Ore. St.

Don’t know if he will play but let’s hope Hauck has at least a conversation with Jeremiah Gray who transferred in from Wake Forest but gave up football last year even if he doesn’t play he could help as a student coach. He is the son of Derwin Gray famous pastor and played at BYU and in the nfl

Cases in point, all R-FR and R-SO Safeties bio's say they will compete for time on special teams.

14 Safeties
13 Linebackers

Engstroms tenure was unforgivable. The BOR and Commissioners Office are both culpable. Include past Governors for appointing people to the BOR who are incompetent or have an agenda of their own. Past Legislators who approved the hiring of these idiots. Voters who elected these Legislators. Does anyone on this site remember the furor over Schweitzer's attempted appointment of Pat Williams to the BOR in 2013(one year after Engstroms Main Hall Massacre)? Here's a quick refresher from early 2013:

"...the Montana Senate rejected the nomination of Pat Williams to the State Board of Regents with a 26-23 vote. Williams came under scrutiny after an interview with the New York Times where he was quoted as calling some University of Montana athletes “thugs”. Williams has continued to assert that his quote has been taken out of context. Williams contends he was only talking about a hand-full of thugs, not an entire university or athletic department full of them. Despite his assertions, Williams was rejected in a vote that was along political party lines with all 26 votes against him from Republicans and two Republicans and all remaining Democratic votes for him."

ALL Democrats and two RINO's supported this POS. I think eGriz emails were essential in his defeat. Otherwise, Royce would still be in Main Hall completing his destruction of, what was then, Montana's Best University.

Mikey, this will be a generational thing, unfortunately.

14 Safeties
13 Linebackers

Just for comparison sake, I looked at msu's current roster. Whereas UM lists either safety or cornerback, msu also lists defensive back which could be either of those positions. As a result, I had to include corners and dbs for this comparison.

UM
Linebacker = 13
Safety = 14
Cornerback = 8
Total = 35

msu
Linebacker = 17
Safety = 5
Defensive Back = 8 (some are safeties and some are corners)
Cornerback = 4
Total = 34

Point being, we have a similar number of athletes assigned to the combined safety/linebacker positions with less linebackers and more safeties due to our type of defense.

Taber’s ears must have been burning. Seems to be updated now for most part. I see Michael McGinnis is back!

Only guys I’m not seeing is Mykal Tolliver, and Garrison Poetzl and not seeing Beau Braden.

A couple of surprises Max Gardiner WR I believe he transferred in from Linfield where he played baseball. Also Ryan Ressler a CB walkon from Fort Collins Colorado

Oops meant to update a couple days ago....Beau Braden is certainly a Griz. All good there!

Engstrom was the Corona Virus of the University Of Montana. Unfortunately, like the virus, it will take a number of years to get things back to normal.

i agree. they will need to find a good leader to do that, someone who can figure out how to carry the university forward, but still maintain credibility as an institute of higher learning, that requires effort to pass classes.

Just got an e-mail from the alumni association about current MOLLI classes and Royce is listed as one of the presenters for a current offering. WTF? Not what I wanted to see at the start of the year (or any other time!).
