Roster size and rules

Can someone remind me of the roster rules for spring versus fall? You can only carry a certain amount on the roster depending on the time of year correct?

Currently, it looks like the Griz have 99 kids on the roster which includes their signing class. I believe the Cats are at 106 for comparison.

I've always thought that NCAA rules allow for 105 players before the first day of class or the first game, whichever comes first. When school is in session, there is no limit. Maybe that's changed? Not 100% sure.

Google is my friend. I think you are spot on! I was just looking that up online and that seems to be the case. GG for the TD. You going for 2?

I thought it said "Rooster size and rules" and was curious what type of kinky stuff hooked is into.

Okay I laughed out loud literally on that one. Let's hope we don't have to remove the anonymity here or I'm in trouble then haha!

Being honest here....on first look I thought the same thing. Opened the link for rooster talk.

Me too. When another poster asked someone if they're "Going for two" and the response was "yes" I initially thought this was either a lesbian thread or...????

I thought the FCS was restricted to 90 players during fall camp, and then additional walkons could join the team after school started or the first game, whichever came first.

But Wikipedia says 95 players for FCS:

NCAA Division I
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scholarships
Division I FCS schools are currently restricted to giving financial assistance amounting to 63 full scholarships. As FCS football is an "equivalency" sport (as opposed to the "head-count" status of FBS football), Championship Subdivision schools may divide their allotment into partial scholarships. However, FCS schools may only have 85 players receiving any sort of athletic financial aid for football—the same numeric limit as FBS schools. Because of competitive forces, however, a substantial number of players in Championship Subdivision programs are on full scholarships. Another difference is that FCS schools no longer have a limit on the number of new players that can be provided with financial aid in a given season, while FBS schools are limited to 25 such additions per season. Finally, FCS schools are limited to 95 individuals participating in preseason practices, as opposed to 105 at FBS schools (the three service academies that play FBS football are exempt from preseason practice player limits by NCAA rule).

There was a recent article on Nebraska's new coach Scott Frost, where he said he wants to have "150" players in the program (obviously not all on scholarship). Is there a limit on the total number of players, including walk-ons that a program can have? I didn't think there was, once school was in session. I am aware that you have a limited number between the start of fall camp and when classes start.

If it has to be 95 in fall camp, which looks to be the case according to that, then Griz and Cats have to scale back a bit....at least 4 for us and 11 for them
