three-star recruit from los angeles just signed with cal, after two cal commits de-committed. just shows how tough recruiting is at our level, when we have to wait on what the bigger programs do. but also how this staff is really going after quality kids. roman davis was the one player I was hoping we might get.

I doubt we will get any guys of this quality if we don't offer stipends while others do.

Just curious....but if this thinking is true then why did Ahmadd Rorie transfer from a school that is supposedly paying stipends??????

From my understanding, not every school offer stipends for every program, and sometimes the family can give the kid the other support he needs to play for a coach he really wants to play for.

That may be true....I don't think the final computation on these stipends are in yet....I don't think stipends had a part in Roman Davis's decision....what I understand is he was prepared to go to prep school for a year and see if he could get a high D1 scholarship for the '16-'17 season, then California had a guy who had signed a LOI have some problems getting past the school's admissions department.....that opened up a schollie that they offered to Davis....

What is a high Division 1 scholarship?

Any school in the Power 5 conferences (Pac 12, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, and ACC) are "high D1" as is the Big East for basketball only....then you have high mid-major, then low mid-major, all of which are Division I.....
