Roll Call. Who roots for the cats outside of Griz-cat?

And here you have it folks, the cow pasture where bobscat fans tailgate..

I walked thru that shithole tailgate area in Griz gear with my wife and then teenage son in 05 on my way to the GSA tailgate. Bad move. I had no idea it would be like that or I would have went around. That day cemented for me, my wife and son our eternal hatred of the cats. Now I can take some smack talk but the vulgarity we heard that day was just classless. I had a women and a kid with me for christs sake! I was very close to ending up in jail that day. Then, to top off the day, when we got to my wifes car after the game, the windows were spit full of loogies, due to our Griz plates! As we were driving away, we were flipped off by numerous cat fans walking along the road. I told my wife then that I will never come to a Griz-cat game in bozo again and not even stop in Bozeman ever again. I haven't set foot in Bozeman since. I proudly parade the FTC plates thru on I-90 on my way to my pit stop in either Manhattan or Livingston. I wont even piss on Bozeman!!!!!

FTC Forever Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry that happened to you. That sort of thing isn't allowed at my tailgate. I won't have it. I grew up a griz fan. Went to MSU. Became a cat fan. I proudly cheer for both. I cheer for the cats at Cat/Griz. Not because of some horrible experience I had as a junior high student wearing griz colors in Bozeman (it was ugly...dad was pissed) or wearing cat colors in Missoula as a college sophomore (it was ugly...I was pissed). Dumb people do dumb stuff. Now I expect it out of dumb people and they never let me down. I just love football. I love the calamity that occurs in this state over the Brawl. Pointing the finger isn't going to solve any problems. Come by 104 next year, with your FTC gear on, and I'll treat you right. It will be better beer than Hamms, but the food will be worse than sushi.

...it seems clear...
...it's ftc..fcuk the cats...
...not ftcs..fcuk the cats sometimes...

... :finger: ...

Why would any griz fan EVER root for the CATS. I would never root for the griz, EVER. North Carolina never roots for Duke, OSU never roots for Michigan. When I went to U of Minnesota, no one under ANY circumstance would root for Wisconsin (and the gophers didn't win against the badgers in the years I went there) . That is what makes college sports great...That and cheerleaders. Now saying that, I will root for Montana kids when they move on to the pros (except Hilliard, but that is personal) What I don't get is anyone being actually rude to another teams fans. Sure some well natured ribbing, and trash talking, but to take it to the point of stupidity only makes the fan base doing it look that much worse. I have had arguments with CATS fans that have gone to far, and let them know that it is unacceptable to act that way to griz fans. I assume most griz fans feel the same when they see someone in their fan base acting that way towards CATS fans.

Home and Garden show this past weekend in Great falls. I ran into the Bobcat mascot, Champ several times. of course My wife and I were all dressed in Griz attire. Champ started to give me a hard time and all I had to say was 34-7! The next time I made mention of the cats being swept in in both men's basketball games this year as well...He stayed away from then on. Cheer for the Cats...is this thread for real?

Good post.

POTY Nominee!!!

There are several on this board that post as if they are Griz fans, however, they are also fans of the cats. Strange? Yes, indeed. Some, of course, didn't attend either school or any college, so perhaps it is just a good past time for them and a feeling of belonging. Works for me.

I think a lot of people that post on here get myopic. You have to remember that it's only a small percentage of UM fans that post on here, the most frequent being the die-hards. The consensus of the vocal minority does not the whole represent.

Not that I care. I don't.

I dragged the '97 Griz-Cat game out of my archives the other night. Mike Callaghan, former Cat linebacker was color commentator for the Cats. After the Cats went ahead 25-24 with 22 sec. left, he made a statement that, in my opinion, summarizes the Griz-Cat situation in this state: " In the State of Montana, you're either a Cat or a Griz, there's no in between." Somehow, I doubt he was referring JUST to the Griz-Cat game. For all of you too young to have seen the game(this years freshman class was born in '97), Griz won 27-25. :D

Hey S&W, thanks for the trip down memory lane. One should always take the time to ponder and savor those precious moments. Like the Griz-Cat basketball game in Bozeman back in '86 or whenever, when Wayne Tinkle stole the inbound pass and hit the game winner with just a couple seconds left and the Griz down 1. Heh heh heh. Its alwasy greatest when it's at the Cat's expense.

I was at the game. The day MSU learned that a team has to play defense until the final gun. The ToT was very sad that day.

Apparently they've unlearned that and decided they don't need to play it at all.

Ok, the age old question. Do you root for the state bobcats in their games other than Griz-cat? I thought it would be interesting to see who does and who doesn't. I know this thread is going to go south fairly quickly so try to keep your response limited to a yes or no with a brief explanation why.

I will start. No. Not ever, against anybody. Those on this board that know me know that.

Here we go.........
YES, if it will help the Griz. If not then, never...

I was there. The two Griz fans in front of me in trench coats pissed themselves because they "didn't want to miss anything."
