Former Niners QB John Brodie, 1970 NFL MVP, dies at age 90

John Brodie, who won the NFL MVP award in 1970 and later played on what is now the PGA Tour Champions, has died at age 90.

John Brodie spoke at my High School graduation...Then stayed and talked to us afterwards wishing us well. hard to believe he was 90 he was much younger back then

I remember John Brodie well. He was the talk of the NFL. I remember 1970 very well too. That was the year I graduated from UM, got commissioned through Army ROTC, went to Fort Benning to the start on my journey to Vietnam. The Griz went 10 - 0 in FB in '69, lost the Camellia Bowl, and had one hell of a FB team going into '70 spring camp.

I refuse to get older.

I highly recommend this to every young adult i meet. Unfortunately in typical youth fashion, they never listen.

I vaguely remember John Brodie as a kid--wasn't he also a pretty good football broadcaster something like 50 years ago ?

My first nfl game was San Francisco vs denver in exhibition game in Spokane at Joe albi stadium in early 70s. 49ers won and Brodie gave me about 10-15 seconds of attention after game which put on top of the world.
