this might not be news... its about 2 weeks old, but its what I found...

Texas Tech freshman forward Dazzmon Thornton has been released from his scholarship and will transfer, said Rudy Carey, Thornton's high school coach.

Thornton averaged 1.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10 games this past season. Carey said Thornton was told that his scholarship would not be renewed. He will visit Montana, James Madison, Denver, Loyola (Md.) and possibly SMU.

Any news about Dazzmon Thornton from Texas Tech? He is supposedly transferring. I know we were recruiting him out of HS in Colorado. He was a 3 star.

From what I read, his weight was an issue at TT. He was listed at 283 lbs. In reading the TT message boards, it seem everyone was quite impressed with him in terms of being a good citizen. He was a 3 star recruit out of HS and was recruited by the GRIZ. I believe he would have to redshirt next year if he came here. Given the fact we lose no post players, that would probably make sense anyway. He was a heckuva a player in HS.
