Riley Bradshaw?

montanatarheel

Well-known member
Only a soph but is putting up huge numbers averaging 22.5 ppg and narrowly missed out on a triple double the other night scoring 30 with 9 assists and 9 boards with 5 treys. i hear he projects to be a d1 player and is listed anywhere from 6' to 6'2". I also heard a rumor from a good source that he will transfer to hellgate to play in missoula next year.

Anybody seen him play or got any info or an opinion on him?

If he transfers from Corvallis to Hellgate, I would be happy. Hellgate is the program I root for in Missoula because of the kids and families are made up of many from MT Jumbo East.

I Know Riley has div 1 potential, and think he will make it. I am curious though, why Hellgate? I know Sentinel is loaded, but could he not start along side King the next few years? He would start at Big Sky as well. I hope Bradley Corntassle starts for Sentinel the next 2 years. I love that kid as a point guard.

Corntassle and Bradshaw played for the same AAU team for a few years, along with a few Florence and Stevensville kids (not too surprised to see all these programs doing well now). It is good to see these kids all playing for different programs, because there is not enough basketballs to go around if they all played for the same HS program.

As for Bradshaw, I feel it would be a wise decision to play at the AA HS level due to the competition being the best in MT. It will help him get more recognition and respect. Playing at Sentinel he is just another good player with good talent around him. At Hellgate he has the opportunity to be "THE MAN" and with good young players he can elevate the program to a new level. Next year I believe Hellgate returns Ginn, Peevey, Joscelyn, Hopfauf, Hartmann, Weston, Mitchell Hall, and Jake Arledge (not sure of Hopfauf, Hartmann, Weston, and Hall, but am sure of the others.)

Ginn can be a rebounding and defensive force, and is a beast. Peevey can be all state, Joscelyn just needs consistency, and Arledge has great intensity, shot, and sense (Julie Epperly's son). Bradshaw's addition would certainly put Hellgate on par with Sentinel, and would hope they add another big transfer. I hope Bradshaw does transfer to Hellgate, that would make Missoula basketball much stronger, and would help his future too.

From what i see of him it looks like he is a gunner and a very capable one at that so hellgate could be a perfect fit as far as the amount of shots he may recieve. Coach Sampson has D1 coaching experience so that could factor in also.

Sampson will get him more exposure and help him get recruited more than any other coach in Western Montana. Even though Hellgate sucks, Sampson knows what he is doing when it comes to getting his kids looks. The only problem the last few years is he hasn't had any kids worth looking at.

Bradshaw is the real deal. Comes from a good basketball family. He dad was the longtime coach at Corvallis and his brother, Shea, was a great player for the Blue Devils in the earlier part of the decade. Class of 03 I believe? Shea played at North Idaho College in Couer d Alene before finishing his last two years at Montana Tech.

The younger Bradshaw has already received some interest from Montana. At the Griz summer camp a year ago, he tore it up and got Tinkle's attention a bit. No solid offers or anything, but I know he is on their radar.

He has D I skills, no question. But so much about getting D I looks these days has to do with athleticism and look as well. He doesn't look like a D I athlete nor is he over athletic. Nonetheless, if he continues to develop, he will be a Big Sky Conference talent.

I have heard that Riley already has offeres from Montana State and Montana and did well enough at an AAU tourney last summer that Utah and Utah State are interested in scouting him. If he does transfer to the mighty Hellgate Knight I will not complain... being a Hellgate alum.

Hellgate will be good next year. Sentinel will be very good next year, and better the following year.

offers to sophs?

I follow north carolina recruiting like an addict and have run into this multiple times. The NCAA asks coaches not to offer them but what is the point if there is no penalty to those who do?

I have seen roy williams quoted as saying he won't do it because they ask not to but other coaches still do so what is the point?

Now that would be great! I hear that they will be losing several key players if he (coach) is still there. They have several talented players not play the past couple of yrs because of him. I hear he does communicate very well with his players and they can't stand him.

I have watched Ben Roberts at Sentinel over the last three years and I keep waiting for him to become a super dominating player. What Gives? He seems to have exceptional athletic talent that would lend itself to becoming a twenty point scorer and a ten rebound guy every night. Can't they isolate him more so he can showcase his superior athletic talent like they often did on the football field the last couple of years. He should be more of an opposing coaches nightmare than he currently is at the present time.

He is a freak athlete.....the problem is he has NO basketball skills. Can't shoot, no go to moves, no post game. I mean he does, he is a good Montana high school player, but he doesn't the game to put up the numbers his athletic talent should warrant.

I have heard Ben is a outstanding basketball, football, and Baseball player. Could go D-1 in any of those sports IF he was to specialize. I beleive that basketball takes a back seat to Football and Baseball for him. It is hard to develop the skills you need to play D-1 ball when you are spread so thin.

I agree with everything you said except that he has D-I basketball talent. You as much as anyone on this board, Mslacat, know how difficult it really is to be a D-I bball player in America today. Talent, exposure, pretty much year round training, God-given talent, etc. All play huge factors. I understand what you are saying though.

Regardless, he is a D-I football or baseball player no question. So it is essentially a mute point.....Hell, we are nitpicking, the Kid is a stud!

all division one schools are not equal. he most certainly COULD play for both the cats and griz for starters. that said, mslacat clarified that he could go D-1 in any of the sports IF, (capitalized) he focused on one of them. playing division one hoops certainly isn't easy, but it's far easier at schools like um and msu.

His dad is his coach at Corvallis right now and they have some good talent there to go along with Riley. I don't see him transfering to any school, because he and his old man are trying to win a state championship at Corvallis. There really isn't a huge talent difference from A to AA out West. Western A schools have faired well against Western AA schools over the past few years so there is no huge advantage for him to transfer to a Missoula AA school to play against a higher level when one really doesn't exist from a competetion stand point.

He plays for his dad at Corvallis who has 20 plus years experience coaching and helping kids get to the next level. I doubt he will transfer to play for Sampson over his pops or transfer for the competetition being better considering the fact that Western A teams have competed very well against Western AA teams. If the kid wasn't playing for his dad and living in Columbus near Billings, I would say it would be a real good move for him to transfer to Senior or West, because that would benefit his recruitment chances, but since he's not it won't hurt him at all to stay where he's at play for his dad, try and win a championship and still go on to play college basketball.

Not being in Missoula, I was not aware he played for his father. I agree, that alone changes things a lot in my opinion. I would love to see him added to Hellgate though.

IMO corvallis wont win a state champioship. they have good talent but are not a team which is exactly why they lost to dillon last night. Bradshaw has two more years in school and they won't come close to any sort of state championship. Bradshaw is the real deal, though.
