Riley Bradshaw just left the Aggies

He's better offensively than Cherry puuhhllleeease...I've seen them all play and the mere fact that I've seen Cherry leave his feet at about the freethrow line and dunk is enough said...it what ways is bradshaw better offensviely than Cherry?

I do hope Riley becomes a GRIZ and adds to our guard competition. His offense and intangibles will certainly help the team. Defensively, I am being honest as I can, he has some work to do. He is a div 1 talent, as are the guards he will be competing against.

The only factor that matters this year is, where will he transfer too? If he chooses Montana, how will he do it? I am guessing pay his own way this school year.

As for where he rates within our guards, that will be determined over the next year. I certainly know, he will bust his ass to be the best player he can be. Personally, I always pull for the Montana kids a little harder. To be honest, it is hard to not pull for any of the GRIZ players, Tinkle has brought in a lot talent with great character too.

Riley, I hope you do become a GRIZ, if so, welcome aboard!

wagriz4life: I think we will have to agree to disagree. I have seen Bradshaw, Gregory and Deshields many times live and in person and that is what I make my judgements on. Gregory lead the state of Colorado in scoring twice, playing in a higher classification than class a. Everyone at the scrimmage last week got a real good look at just what kind of offensive player he is. He is the same height as Bradshaw but is WAY more athletic. He is a better ball handler and has a much better looking shot.
Deshields biggest issue is he tends to forget he has teamates. If he didn't try to force things and let his teamates do their thing he would/will be a stud.

I am not trying to bang on Bradshaw. He is a good player and that cross-over is just killer. I am an avowed in-state homer, I believe in our kids and think they are very underated. I wish Riley all the best and it would be cool if he joined our program but I can't ignore what I have seen with my own eyes. If he would have come here this year he would have found himself on the same place on the depth chart as he did at USU. IMO.

Now, to the logistics...We have three open schollys for next year. We have gotten two commits from a PG and a SG. With the other spot we HAVE to get another big. So, for him to come here he would have to walk-on or we would have to rescind the offer to Dunn or Gfeller, neither of those seem likely. There is the possibility that someone could leave or be asked to leave come the spring and that may be the final say on this thing. If Tinkle chooses to keep who he has now instead of going after Bradshaw we will know what the big man thinks of these guys. Like I said it would be cool for him to come here, I could easily be wrong on him and it would be nice to have another MT kid. I will trust Tinkle's judgment either way.

Good luck to Riley wherever he ends up. From all the time he spent at UM open gyms I'd bet that's where he wants to be if he fits into Tinkles current plans.

All this speculation about whether or not he's better or worse than the current players is complete conjecture. I don't care how great a player may have been in high school or what kind of stats they had, going to the next level, especially at the D1 level, is a huge adjustment and much harder than most understand. I'd bet most of the people posting comments here haven't played a college level sport.

Players who may have a dozen tricks in their bag who were unstoppable in high school face a completely different reality in college. They often end up looking like completely different players with only a few attributes that translate over. It's a combination of the physical and mental aspects that can challenge any player's confidence and ultimate production. The key is what they do with their situation after dealing with the initial shock of that reality...that's where the hard work, determination and perseverance come through.

From what I've seen live and on clips from his high school days, he has talent and could be an asset to the Griz. But it remains to be seen how he adjusts to the next level and the hard knocks along the way compared to the rest of the guys on the team dealing with the same issues. It's a pretty big stretch to say he'd be the 2nd best player on the team after one practice...especially when all anyone has to go by is his high school and AAU play. If he was that good he would have been picked up by a high major school from the beginning.
