Bobby is the head coach. Haslam is his boss. Situations occurred this year regarding a quarterback controversy (controversies) that could impact recruiting and transfers for years to come. Eventually, unless fixed, it could have a negative impact on game attendance (revenue), thus it would involve Haslam.

So you are suggesting that the AD should tell the head coach who to play?
I don’t think it’s fans thinking they know more as much as it is not all fans believe the coaches are infallible and think some things are worth discussing.
Haslam shouldn’t be telling a coach who to play, how to run practices, what plays to call, etc. That would be a disaster.
Haslam should be telling a coach to suck it up for 10 minutes a week and act decent for interviews. He should be telling a coach to have a freaking signing day event. The fact that he would have to is concerning though.

Aren't the signing day events usually in February? Have they ever done one during the playoffs?

Okay, but that wasn't my question. Fans can discuss anything they want. I wasn't addressing that. I wanted to know the answer to my question. Nobody believes coaches are infallible.
There’s two signing days, one in December one in February. The most recent one got moved up a couple weeks compared to last year, I think.
Everybody has a signing day event. It’s a big deal for the incoming freshman, fans love it, it’s easy and good publicity. These players are the future of the program, they probably deserve to get some acknowledgment from the head guy. And every other team does it! It takes half an hour! There’s really no good reason not to do it.
The only way this involves Haslam is if he's firing Hauck, or Hauck quits and Haslam has to hire his successor.

What good does a little signing day event do in December, during Portal recruiting time? A press release went out. Were there related videos? There was press. There were zero surprises on recruits signed. Recruits don't come to the signing events. The QB Club gets invited to the February event. I don't recall ever getting invited or going to a December signing thing.
What do you think was lost by not having a signing event this week? Why is it a big deal for incoming frosh? Aren't they still in high school?

A signing day event is very important.
I've managed to turn a few out of state friends onto GRIZ/ FCS Football.
3 of them commented to me, why no signing day event? That's not a good look for Montana football. One of them is very involved in HS Football. He outright told me, these recruits just want a warm public welcome acknowledgement. To add, they all saw Montana State took the time to do just that. They seem to think, not doing it, is a sign of not caring. It indeed steers recruits, coaches, and families away.
Makes me wonder, how many recruits are lost by not doing it?
Look dude, you were in business for a long time, this shouldn’t be that complicated.
At the end of the day, it is easy, and positive, marketing. Everybody does it. Kirby Smart, Nick Saban did, Kane DeBoer does, NDSU, SDSU, MSU, everybody. Point being, if they ALL think it’s worth the time, it probably is. There’s no reason not to do it. If the 30 minutes it takes is going to wreck your game planning, you got bigger issues.
I doubt they lose any, but it’s just a really easy missed opportunity to sell the program and players. Any time you can get positive attention, you run out to do it.

Look, Dude. I don't agree with you. Are you comparing Hauck to Smart, Saban and DeBoer. Only 1 of them even made the playoffs this season.
Again, what, specifically, do you think the Griz missed by not doing a little event? Would it be anything more than a press conference? What did the Griz do last year? I was hanging with Santa last year, so don't recall and actually don't recall anything about an event.

I would say no recruits were lost and, in my opinion, most recruits wouldn't care about a little thing in December.

It definitely didn't cost any of the signed recruits. That's obvious. Unfortunately, it possibly can cost us competing for some recruits here and there.I would say no recruits were lost and, in my opinion, most recruits wouldn't care about a little thing in December.

I think its more of a wasted opportunity that people like Vigen understand. Bobby could take one hour out of his day to do a press conference, hyping these guys. Gets good press, positive new for a team that just had a disappointing season, gets more people to see that the coaches really are excited about the players they get, lets players get some pats out the back. Only positive things can come out of doing one so not doing it is wasting an opportunity for Bobby to get a little positive message out there. Otherwise, even if do it in February as you can see there are people disappointed and to some it appears as if its no big deal for Bobby when to those kids and their families it is monumental.

Hauck has moved on and is a new-era recruiter. Up near the head of the pack.
