Retain Wayne Tinkle

UM had a good year in basketball. Coach Tinkle is an excellent coach and perhaps, an even better recruiter. In my view, it is critical to the continued success of the program that he be retained as our coach. No doubt, he is going to get offers to go elsewhere ( probably already has ). His current compensation isn't close to being competitive with the other good coaches on a national basis and I'm not talking about Duke or Ohio State. His salary should, at least, be doubled and that really isn't enough. Simply stated, we should do everything possible to retain Wayne Tinkle and I am hopeful our AD can get it done.

Agreed. Montana needs to realize that they need to be competitive and not settle for being a stepping stone. At least go out with a fight for these talented coaches.

+1 ! I think they talked in another thread of creating a booster club. If he's really leaving, I think a fund should be created. I, for one, would kick in a small donation. Small donation ($25) X 1000 or more givers would be more than a token chunk of change, and it would send a very nice message to Wayne that he is appreciated and MT has his back.

If a bump of $25,000 moves Wayne on then he really didn't want to be here in the first place. I would think he's seeing (or will soon be seeing) offers of 3-5 x his current salary. Any booster club better be able to come up with about $150k if there's a chance in hell of keeping him.
