Wouldn't say it was a successful night overall for the Big Sky Conference.

Good win by the Griz over Drake on the road in over time winning 78 - 72.

But, after that, the only wins by the other Big Sky Conference teams were over teams that were mediocre, if that.

Eastern Washington (4 - 3) beat UC Riverside (0 - 6) 85 - 70 on the road.
Idaho State (6 - 1) beat UC Davis (1 - 6) 75 - 68 on the road.
Portland State (2 - 6) is beating Idaho (1 - 5) 43 - 32 (9:06 left) on the road.

Montana State (3 - 5) lost to Wisconsin-Green Bay (3 - 5) 75 - 73 on the road.

Weber State (3 - 5) lost to Utah State (4 - 2) 69 - 60 at home.

Well, it wasn't a horrible night. PSU did end up beating Idaho, so Big Sky ended up with 4 road wins.

I just checked the Sagarin's and the BSC is currently 17th, one spot ahead of Conference USA. A far cry from where we were last year.

It would have a good day for the Big Sky if Weber State could have beaten Utah State. Utah State is a much better team than most of the other opponents other than Drake. Griz win over Drake may help earn a little respect. A Weber State win would have helped. But the other wins won't.

Big Sky is also higher in RPI than last year.

But, could be even better if Weber State could have beaten Utah State. Weber State's loss at home hurts.

That Idaho State win was pretty big, just considering UCD beat Stanford. I know you can't totally compare games, but ISU has beaten Boise State, UVS by the same margin the Griz did, NDSU (who took Drake to the wire Friday night), and their only loss was their season opener at Kansas.

ISU looks to be a pretty good team this year, and the Thursday, Jan 5th game is going to be huge. Students will be gone, and being a Thursday night probably won't be much of a crowd, which is a shame because this game might determine who gets to host the BSC tourney.

Yes, it would have been nice if WSU would have won, but part of getting the RPI up is not only beating good teams, it's also avoiding losses to bad teams that would drag down the RPI.
