RESPECTFUL GRIZ FANS, STEVE ROSS, CAROLINA-A GRIZUMENTARY!

I normally just “browse” egriz, read the commentary and have a few laughs, but suddenly feel compelled to comment. First, I have been a die-hard GRIZ fan most of my life, after attending the University of Montana way back in 1977 and 1978. I did not graduate from there as I was a young, foolish, student who could not make a life decision to save my a**. The University made a decision for me…..another funny story, another time. Let’s just say the path I majored in was not and is still not on the curriculum. But, today because of all my life experience, I have become a much wiser man, (most that know me very well might disagree).
That being said, I have a passion for the Griz winning every game like any true football fan would, but the past few days have disappointed me with all the negative comments towards other fans. I have always thought as GRIZ fans we were in a special group that was always respectful and sometimes over-friendly to the opposition. I have never understood why fans that hate the GRIZ have to lurk on egriz and make ridiculous comments. Most individuals that utter their garbage do so sitting in their underwear in the confines of whatever living situation they are in, knowing well they don’t ever have to stand behind and back up those comments. Trust me that has never been me, as a fan, I will spout off and back my team when pushed no matter how big or small, wherever! It has many times been a curse and backfired or almost backfired in a big way.
I do not in any way think we have this very important game won, especially if we play the way we have in many games this year. We won some of those games, but as a true fan knows there were moments in all of them where we didn’t deserve to win. I wish everyone would stop talking about how we or they got lucky. That’s all part of playing the entire game.
I always try to be respectful of all fans and believe it or not carry that respect to many Cat fans who have earned that respect by being respectful back. But I do have to say, I never will be a Bobcat fan in any game because of the way myself, my wife and other friends have been treated by numerous unrespectful Cat fans over the years. They have not all been young, immature college students as I once was. We recently had an experience with a supposed “mature” male in his 40’s who stuck his finger down his throat pretending to puke as my wife walked by in her Griz gear as we were being seated to have lunch at a certain Bozeman establishment. We were meeting with the daughter, (whom attends MSU) of some Griz friends. Once again the childish move by an adult is not worthy of any more comment.
I for one do not think for a minute that Coastal Carolina has any intentions of coming to Missoula to lose. So let’s get back to what made GRIZ nation great, hard-nosed football the entire game along with some of the best fans in all of college football. Let’s knock off all the b*****it, take pride and show Coastal Carolina, Steve Ross, or whoever he is the great Griz fans and why we have a 1st round bye. I beg Griz nation to show up and be loud. I live in Billings and had full intentions of attending the game with our great friends who are the “true die-hards”, not missing any games this year, travelling across the state for every home game. But because of work commitments and the weather messing up many of these commitments, we will be sidelined to watching it on PPV.
Most people will laugh at me when I say this, but REMEMBER it is just a game. I only get riled up when pushed into a corner. Let’s show RESPECT AND LOVE FOR OUR PLAYERS AND FANS and also for the players and fans of the opposition. GOOOOOO GRIZZZZZZ!!!!!!!
I am sure there will be many that will rip me apart. Have fun and get after it.

As a true fan, I dare you to tell that line to anyone on the football team... You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone that would agree with that statement... :coffee:

People who take what's said on eGriz as "the whole truth" need to get out more. Our reputation as fans comes not from the knuckleheads on eGriz (myself included) but the way opposing fans are treated in the bars & restaurants of Missoula and in the parking lots and tailgates before home games, how well we travel and represent Montana and the University, and how we handle ourselves in opposing cities (win or lose). eGriz isn't even CLOSE to that....I've never met ANYONE who said "I can't stand Griz fans or the Grizzlies because of all those a**holes on eGriz."

I agree completely. "...moments in all of them where we didn't deserve to win". Deserve is the wrong word. They didn't quit, they played hard and clean, i.e. not a lot of penalties and no real cheap shots that I saw, so they absolutely deserved to win. "Moments when games could have been lost?" Absolutely also. There are always those for any team in any season. As much as we all would have liked to see them blow every opponent away, well that is more a reflection of a fan's ego than reality. Hauck's teams gutted out a lot of wins, many of them a lot closer than it seemed they should have been (on paper). Griz fans need to appreciate that winners win and these young guys and their coaches are winners.
