So they should be punished before all the facts come out and they have their day in court? I thought you were an attorney. I can't count the number of times throughout the years where you were quick to jump in and defend all the griz players that got in trouble throughout the years, telling everyone to wait and see how good the lawyers could do and see what the legal rulings ended up being. I've posted on here multiple times that the optics aren't good on this but I want to know all the details of both cases..... especially Housewright. What if you got arrested for something, and your company made you stop working until you had your day in court, and then the court found you not guilty. Wouldn't you be pissed?
At the least, they should have been suspended. And people get "punished" all the time before "all the facts come out" and before they have "their day in court". Almost no organization waits until someone in this situation has their day in court. I was an attorney for 45 years. I've advised in situations like this 100's of times, and our law firm 1000's of times, including universities.
Every, or almost every, Griz player was suspended immediately, and sometimes sanctioned. I never said that everyone should wait until the legal proceedings were done. I sometimes knew the facts, and said that the charges would be dropped or reduced. In every single case in which there was a charge, I was right when I spoke up, to my knowledge.
Because I am a lawyer and advised clients in situations like this, I know what MSU has said is total BS. In fact, as I said, some of what they said is a borderline lie.
No, if I had been charged with something I had done and/or would probably have to plea to or would probably be convicted of, I would expect to be suspended or sanctioned. With or without pay, depending on the situation. Only if I hadn't done what was charged, or knew I would not be convicted, and was able to persuade my employer, would I feel otherwise. Had the charges been BS or likely to be dropped fairly quickly, they would have been dropped by now.
Look what happened to Ty Gregorak at UNLV. Which Griz who got charged with a dui, didn't get suspended fairly quickly? Did the house break-in Griz get their day in court before being booted from the team?
