I know of the running back Sixx ran off with his decision making. I don't know the other names, but they sound like a centerfielder from the 1970s, two auto part companies after the merger, and a fictional US state, respectively.

As for the commercial, I don't care when it was filmed. It just shows a lot about the culture of the program.

Well in fairness, this commercial was made last year before the season started. Before the DUI bullshit.

R-Bar is maybe the biggest sponsor and more involved than any MSU has. Now, if the argument is no bar should ever advertise in partnership with a university that is a completely different story. But in light of the current coach circumstances, I'll admit it's a bad look. But ever since NIL, Cat players have been doing commercials with the R-Bar.

If they trotted out Garza and Housewright for a commercial this summer........

Well, in fairness, I think that is the exact story not being told. Can you imagine if some bored NYT journalist got wind of this? Two coordinators from a state school whose biggest and most involved sponsor is a bar get arrested for DUI within months of each other and get contract renewals/raises in a state with a huge DUI problem, and the administration refuses to comment on any of it. To me, that's a significant story.

Not a problem! To be serious for a moment before taking my leave, I think the DUIs are on everyone's mind and some of the criticism of how MSU has handled this situation is completely valid and fair. Criticizing Tommy Mellott and the other players for filming an ad months before the DUI stuff ever happened, an ad in which no alcohol consumption is shown...not valid and not fair at all.

Even if it was filmed prior to all the DUI related problems, how is it not fair to criticize the leader of a player lead program when he says he takes his position as role model seriously. Every decision has consequences and though he isn’t responsible for his coordinators bad decisions, it’s hard not to associate it with the program. I bet he regrets it now. If not he should. Maybe his next NIL will be with the Rimrock Foundation featuring recent program occupants Garza and Housewright. They could all get paid for that one.

No, I don't think it looks bad at all when you look at the content of the ad and the fact that it was filmed months before Garza's DUI. The players are not involved in any of this. If they roll out a new version of the ad for the upcoming season then that can certainly be viewed in a different light.
