This is the one move Stitt might be able to do to save a few people who are still wanting to give him more time. If he keeps him, he is toast in one more year

What do you blame on the ST coach?

Lack of any kickoff return success, lack of coverage on kickoffs, not to mention his job is to "coach" players to improve regardless if he recruited them, kickers have not improved (even requires 2 travel roster spots due to ineffective kicking), snapper has not and even his replacement had a bad one. Besides only one good kick return from JLM early season there were NO others. Too many short fields for opponents and long fields for offense. Even today the fumble recovery play would have had the NC offense starting on the 40 if he didn't cough it up. Griz had one returned kick to the 10 for Gods sake. Each game the other team out played Griz kick coversge/return. Many times were forced to pooch kicks because of crappy coverage. Young kids, I get it they take time, but now is 10 games in.

I agree with some of that, but having JLM as the returner would help with much of that. And, I think kickoff and punt coverage improved as the season went on.

As a consistent factor no.

Why wait?

He is not earning his paycheck. Period.

The LB's do suck.

He gets the good with the bad....the bad is really bad.

You like our special teams? You don't think the special teams coordinator should be accountable?

Go look at his resume on gogriz. What does it tell you? Stitt needs to let him go..and perhaps some others (secondary).

Pretty sure you are making assumptions based on my statement. And if you make a change to hire a ST coach, what other changes do you make to balance out your staff?

I'd start with replacing Hall and Niekamp. Expand Shann's responsibilities, and hire a new Linebacker coach, and a special teams coach.

Fair enough

What responsibilities more do you mean for Shann? he's the secondary coach, and has full reign over the group include setting the depth chart. DC?

JLM should have been returning. Our only road victory this year had a lot to do with his returning ability. Another poor coaching decision.

Then there is no need for Hall. None.

I think his health played a big role in why he wasn't returning punts.

I get that, but in the second half with the season on the line you let him do what he does...

I'm not advocating anybody being fired, but I will point out that special teams accounted for 10 negative points today: dropped snap by the punter resulting in a block and TD by UNC, missed extra point, missed chip-shot FG. Heck even if we make the FG and XP, we win by 1.

True, and none of those things had anything to do with the ST coach.

Niekamp has to go, but to be honest based on performance probably most of the coaches should be gone. It will be interesting to see what Stitt does he sure didn't mind getting rid of players last year. I have a feeling he will be much more forgiving toward his staff.

Probably because they will be better after this year, no wait that was the O line.

I heard on the radio broadcast, (Greg Sunberg) the Arron Held the long snapper was benched? Did anyone else hear that? That could explain somethings. Anyone else hear this

Anyone else wish that maybe the Griz kept transfer JUCO kicker Austin Carver? Definitely a better option than what we got. Maybe Stitt should give him a call and beg for his return.

Down the road in Bozo, they are converting extra points.....using a freshman kicker FROM MISSOULA yet here after almost a full season this staff can't get either of 2 recruited kickers from elsewhere to pan out (oh ya the typical Stitt-backers will say it's because they are young.....MSU is using true freshman at both kicker and punter)

Except Semenza out kicked him in spring camp. While the kicking options weren't the greatest Semenza and Purdy rose to the top while Carver didn't show any improvement. The coaches went with the guys they saw that we're playing the best.

Not sure how Semenza rose to the top after going 0-4 on FGs in the spring game

A few just general thoughts, mostly because I disagree with the calls to replace him.

- keep in mind he's also our LB's coach. Most fans seem to be overwhelmingly pleased with the general performance, depth, and talent of our LB corps. He's running that unit as well and is doing a good job.

- the special teams units are made up of a lot of guys playing their first major time as Griz this year. There's a ton of youth out there and it's showing at times. This could be more of an issue with all of the departures and lack of 2-deep depth with in game experience. I'm not saying this is just an excuse to ignore everything and say it's ok - but I think it lends to the discussion of what's going on with some aspects of ST.
