LadyGriz Remember Izzy Zingaro

She transferred to Cleveland State and is averaging 15 points and 6 rebounds. She has had two double doubles. They beat Northern Kentucky, Valparaiso, St. Bonaventure, Akron, and Cal State Fullerton (in Fullerton). Looks like she is just the post player this year's team needs.

Thus far I am not impressed with either of our basketball teams, and these poor nonconference performances doom us to a 15 or 16 seed should we even make The Big Dance, either side.

Living Zingaro hurts !!! Does anyone know why she left--not enough minutes, the Holsinger debacle, or a combination of both ?

She is having a solid start to the yr.....but

She doesnt fit into the 5 out, shoot threes philosophy of the new staff. Most likely why Pirog decided to depart as well.

A big has to be mobile to play the style they are implimenting. Neither of those two fit this type of system. Thats our 2 cents

Big Sky is right, she just did not fit into the style of play the Lady Griz are "trying" to play. To date they look lost and obviously not doing well. They have a ways to go to be competitive but maybe the non-conference slate will toughen them up for conference play

Dont ever ever start a thread with "remembering". I went oh no did she pass away?

Who would've thought the way you looked last year mid season would've led you to being a last second shot from winning the big sky tourney. With Nate coaching and Mack at the point, I won't count you out right now.

Izzy didnt fit the system. She was slow. If you wanted to play a slowed down post game then she's the player you need. But at the end of the season she was barely playing, if at all. Your team honestly played better without her in. You aren't taking the Cats to the last second of the tourney with her playing. With BH she was a starter, getting lots of minutes and scoring double figures. But you were losing games.

And how's that different from now ? What are the LG, 3-8 or 3-9, currently 🤔 ? Not trying to be a smart a$$ but to state the obvious, the LG have done a lot more losing than winning thus far this season. And with that dreadful nonconference slate, if the LG do somehow win The Big Sky, they're a 16, maybe a 15 seed if they're lucky. !!!

With Izzy you werent keeping up with the Cats and you arent winning the big sky. So in my view, have a chance to win the Big Sky and get a 15/16 seed or just be okay with being a 4th best team in conference.

I never thought Izzy Zingaro had the athletic ability or decision making skills to play in the Big Sky. To me, she lost the ball too often when the entry into the post pass was made. She took too long to make her first move and didn't effectively counter when teams would take away the first move. I also thought she didn't make good decisions with the ball.

Well, she's demonstrating the athletic ability and decision-making skills at Cleveland State, averaging 14.4 points and 6.1 boards a game. While Geno Auriemma and Robin Selvig I ain't, I do know that Izzy averaged 7.7 points a game for us and 3.2 boards , she's about doubled that at Cleveland State so I do think Izzy has some talent and is demonstrating that currently at Cleveland State, and given our record, the LG probably could have used her. Cleveland State is 12-2 and we're 3-9 : ( !!!

True and based off what I could find the Horizon League is ranked at the same level as the Big Sky. All I can say is that I was getting frustrated with Harris last year when he kept playing Izzy in the last conference games before the tournament and she was like a black hole. The ball would go into her but never come back out.

She must have developed or Cleveland State has better talent around her or the teams they are competing against don't have the big bodies the teams in the Big Sky did and she's able to get a lot of rebounds.

She's ballin' out at Cleveland State and her FG% has to be close to 70% and FT% above 90%. I will say, Cleveland State exclusively plays a 2-3 on defense so Izzy's defensive liabilities aren't exposed as much.
