Redshirts?

After last nights game, one thing is clear. This is a very deep and talented basketball team. We could have a 10 or 11 man rotation should Egun and Anderson play. But that’s the question, will they play? I have no idea who is going to redshirt out of this group.

Also, on VerbalCommits.com, they have Freddy Brown III listed as a non scholarship player, does anybody know if that’s true?

Fortunately for the GRIZ, he is a walk on, with an academic scholarship. What a deal he is. :thumb:

Don't you love it when education pays off in a very visible way.

I hope both Egun and Anderson play this year. With a season under their belt, both should be able to contribute come tournament time, especially Anderson. We need another big. Redshirt Carter and Brown. Assume Miller and Manuel sit out as transfers.

Manuel may not sit. He applied for a waiver to play this year and from the rumblings I have heard, They feel like most likely he will be approved. He is prepping himself to play this year..we will see

Is there any further word on whether Dorsey will get an additional year?

Probably won't know on Dorsey until end of this season. In his case, his hardship is for next season. Normally, that decision is made just before late signing.

If Kendall can play this year I'm in favor of redshirting Eddy. even though he is perfectly capable of playing this year I just feel it would be a waste. Also RS Ben and Freddy give them a year to marinate. I think Mack is ready to go this year him and Kelby will be a fun unit off the bench. However, it works out the present and the future of Griz hoops is in good hands!

This makes a lot of sense. If Manuel is playing, that likely means Egun's time on the floor would be a lot more limited.

The reality is that the Griz probably will settle into a 8- or 9-man rotation as the season really heats up: Rorie, Oguine, Falls, Pridgett, Moorehead, Akoh, Dorsey, Kramer, Manuel and Anderson. (I know, that's 10, but the rotation will depend on who is hot, who is injured, etc)

Best to save Egun's four years for the time after Oguine and Rorie depart.

Not that DeCuire really needs my advice on how to manage this situation.
