Redshirts

Has anyone else noticed that we don't have any redshirts on the team this year? Hopefully it won't be a continuing trend because it could be bad for the team in the long run. We have 5 seniors this year and only 1 freshman (Lynch). We do have a couple of freshmen coming in next year but who knows what Kennedy will do with them.

:D We have 3 freshman coming in next year, Matt Morgan, Andrew Strait and Jordan Hasquet. We also have Lamar Farr, a JC transfer coming in. JC transfers can redshirt also although they usually do not. Jon Wilkins, a sophomore JC transfer has had an ankle injury and has yet to play for the GRIZ this year. I don't know if he is eligible for a redshirt year or not. He did not play ball last year. Given our strength at the wing positions this year and the fact that 2 of these players, Brent Cummings and Steve Horne are seniors, I wonder if some consideration is being given to having Jon redshirt this year.

Jon didn't dress for the exhibition but he dressed for all 3 games this past weekend. Usually redshirts are in street clothes at the games but the only player that's been on the bench in street clothes is Chris McKay and that's just because he can't play yet. He's already taken his redshirt year though. plus he said he'll be back in a couple of weeks.

Jon did dress for the 2 tournament games but did not play. Matt Dlouhy dressed for a number of games last year but did not play and ended up redshirting. I don't even know if Jon is eligible for a redshirt year. I have just been wondering about this given the fact that 2 of our best wing players are seniors. I do know that Jon is a great athlete and can jump out of the gym.

I looked at the roster I had from the exhibition and it said that Jon has taken his redshirt year. He may end up in the same situation as Hays was in last year...sitting on the bench almost all season but not redshirting. BTW does anyone know how Hays is doing? He transfered somewhere...I think it was either Rocky Mountain or Carroll.

Jeff is playing for Carroll. He is not currently not starting but is playing significant minutes. He scored around 17 points in his last game. Carroll has only lost one game so far this year.

Hayes is the 6th man for Carroll and just had an outstanding weekend in their Thanksgiving Tourney, get first team all tourney. Carroll is 10-1 on the season and he has been a real solid presence for them. He understands the game real well and plays hard.

Good for him. I felt kinda bad for him last season because he couldn't play and he couldn't redshirt...so he was stuck sitting on the bench using eligiability.
