Redshirt and Playoffs

Do we have a definitive answer on this?

You can play up to 4 games in regular season and still redshirt, regardless of the year you are (fresh, soph, etc) as long as you still have a redshirt year.

However, I heard somewhere or I read it, that once you play in any post season game (bowls for FBS and I’m assuming playoffs in FCS) that you can no longer redshirt. So literally one play in a playoff game and your redshirt is no longer possible? Do we know this for sure?

This articles suggests that there is no difference between playoff game and regular season game towards the 4.

That's my take too.

As I recall, the early reports about the rule change had some very confusing verbiage about how it would apply to transfers ... when the student arrived on campus, when he registered for classes, and so on. I don't think any of that matters for most cases.

You’re correct t about that verbiage you mentioned. Found this in an article about the redshirt rule:

“If a student enrolls midyear and plays in a postseason football game before or during their first term, the new rule does not apply.”

So who, in particular, are you talking about here?

We have some very talented freshman who haven’t played yet. I could see Jesse Owens making an appearance. He was scout team player of the year. Kale Edwards was the defensive player of the year.
