THIS! I was in Spokane and went to a cat-EWU game with some cat buddies. I wore a Griz sweatshirt to the game. I’ve never rooted for the cats more than that day after walking past the student section. The booing was fun, the names they called my then girlfriend were not.Yep. I'll keep beating this drum to death. I have said that I'd go to a game in Missoula 100 out of 100 times before going back to Cheney. Every fanbase has some idiots. But I've never seen anything like I've seen in that shithole. And it wasn't one time. I've been there 4 times and each time it was worse than the last.
As EG said, a little trash talk to fans is fine. But I had small kids the last time I was there. And our wives. And the crap that was yelled at them was just ridiculous. I'm not going to fight in front of my kids. Well not when they were small. But it took everything I had not to the last couple trips there.
The stuff that gets yelled my way in Wash-Griz isn't even in the same ballpark as what those idiots in Cheney come up with. Best way to leave not wanting to kill someone is by watching your team stomp them. I've told all my griz buds over the year I'll root for the griz against one team in the country, and that is EWU.
But I hope all of you travelling have a good time!
We had a wonderful time at the tailgate parties beforehand. Lots of knowledgeable and friendly eagle fans. But once inside I’ve never experienced a more hateful crowd in my life.
