But Delaney also has two other possible openings, though officially he says only that he has given receivers coach Shalon Baker and safeties coach Leon Burtnett time to pursue other jobs.

Both remain on staff, he said, and will be paid at least through the end of their one-year contracts, which end Jan. 31.

“They’re pursuing other opportunities,” he said of Baker and Burtnett, who have been on staff at UM for three seasons and one season respectively. “As I’ve told you before, there’s a possibility that one or two coaches will have new opportunities.”

Baker has had little comment on a possible move, saying that nothing was set in stone. Attempts to reach Burtnett have been unsuccessful.

Seems like it would be a little tough to recruit quality players when you're looking for employment elsewhere.

If I was making 25,000 per year when Northern Colorado postion coaches are making 45,000 a year, I would too. (I don't know if these numbers are 100% accurate, but this is what I was told)

They aren't recruiting. I heard Baker is working at a liquor store in Missoula and Burtnett packed up and moved. Neither are working for UM - just getting paid...

Considering how poorly the Safeties played this year, one could argue that Burtnett packed up and moved
months ago.

Coach Burtnett needed to go. Both showed promise and got worse, not better under his instruction. Hopefully he's gone. I wish him well.

I can't figure Baker. He is a nice guy. Perhaps he can't coach with out Robin around. The receivers were blocking and not catching and that could be the rub. Might have not liked the offense? But who on earth did?
Sounds like we will have many more NEW coaches this season. That seems par for this merry go around. I wonder if we need a woman coach? She would fit right in with the musical chairs and might even lead the song.......^
