i don't for one second question the heart of this year's team, or any tinks-coached team. players are generally effusive in their praise of his character, passion for the game and the family-like atmosphere he creates. i heartily agree.
odd thing is, tinks right now is getting beat at his strength--recruiting. among the gems he's recruited the past few years--selvig, qvale, cherry, jamar, dunn, gregory, gfeller--are a growing list of duds--reader, kovacevic, wiley, hutchison, kemp. this is indeed odd, since all these are big men, where tinks and his staff should have the greatest edge because of tinks's background as a player.
meantime, not only has weber established a solid pipeline to texas--bolomboy, gittens, senglin and hill, all talented underclassmen--damien lillard is becoming a poster boy for the weber program. on top of which they just recruited a three-star big from colorado.
in a weak conference where second and third just doesn't cut it, i only hope the kid from glendive can play, and that tinks and the staff have their eye on some other jumbo talent. it can't get here too quickly.
