Thanks Mslacat. How come you have more inside info on Griz than most if not all Griz fans? Do you cheer for the Griz when not playing the cats?

It is official Chase Adams will be leaving the Grizzly men's program

Bummer. But you have to like what is said of Keron. Seems like he won't be one to get homesick or even rattled much come game-time with what was said of his past. I don't blame him for wanting to get as far away from home as possible. Sounds like he has a lot of upside. Can't wait to see the finished product on the floor.

Are Tinkle and Co. still looking at picking up anyone else, mslacat? Or has this effectively shut down recruiting for next year?

That's the big mystery. I have heard rumblings that they may still be still interested in Maginsto Arop, but if so where is the scholarship coming from? My guess is that they are done.

Either Arop redshirts without a schollie (not likely) or possibly Jordan Wood leaves. I don't think this is likely either, especially since Wood received the Allan Nielsen Award recently. He obviously is a good citizen and teammate. I just wish he had an outside shot. He is a good rebounder and gets some buckets underneath but is not effective from the outside.........sort of a power forward in a two guard's body.

How is UM looking at the 3? Think UM can beat the Indiana schools? Hamilton, Ontario is pretty close to Indiana...

The thing to remember at this time of the year is that who is offering who is very fluid. UM could have recruited/offered Manny but but backed off when they signed Keron. When Manny was asked who was recruiting him he could list the group. Then again maybe another player is leaving, or one of the freshman did not make the clearing house (which I doubt). It is interesting though to say the least.

I hear we are still in the running for Manny, and if he chooses to come here, we will do what we can to accommodate him. Then again, unless another player is really unhappy, or Tinkle has brass balls, I don't see how it could happen. I cannot think of any of the current players that has not earned the scholarship, or won't contribute this season.

Is it a possibility he could qualify for academic scholarships as a redshirt transfer? I know he is very intelligent. I am guessing though, there has to be some sort of NCAA rule on that one, or that would be a prevalent practice in NCAA basketball.

Good point. Noted.

A little info on Maginsto Arop recruitment. I am told he took a recruiting trip to UM, but it was an unofficial (meaning he paid his own way). He is taking 5 official recruiting trips (meaning the school pays his way). He just finished up a trip to New Mexico State. It does not sound like Um is still in the picture.

It is hard to stay in the running without any scholarships left to use. Thankfully, we are set at SF the next few years. Steward, Jamar, and Weisner should have that position covered the next 4 years. That is me being optimistic we use Weisner there though.

Also, we will be needing that scholarship after this season for another big guy. After this season, we will be losing Stockton, Steward, and Selvig. It makes sense Tinkle would use 2 of 3 scholarships for post players.

Don't forget Kevin Henderson as a potential 3. I continue to think Weisner is going to looked at as a four as well as a three. We head into next season with four post players who all have had injury problems since coming to the Griz. This sounds a little shaky to me. :?

Grizwhiz, exactly why I feel it is critical for Tinkle to use no less than 2 scholarships on 6'8" plus true post players. I have a feeling one of those posts is 2 years away in the Flathead area. Beyond him, I have no idea what other posts are on Tinkle's radar, or if Montana is on any posts radar.

It would be nice to find some information from someone. Not even Mslacat has any recent updates on post recruits showing interest in the GRIZ.

After checking ESPN, Scout, and Rivals, this is all I came up with for 2012. Mader the only one with height, Jagne is big though.

Sorry the link does not take you to the page I got this from, just the site.

There is the possibility of one current player giving up his schollie for next year( but walking on) and using it for Arop.
Wonder if Uncle John could help out here. :thumb:

Why would Uncle John do that? Then again, maybe he can be as convincing as Papa Joe was to have his kid to play without a scholarship. I surely believe John's nephew sure has earned that Scholarship though. Who knows, but it is nice to have something to chat about.

By the way, Check out the list of offers Jagne has already. It would be a huge get if Tinkle pulls this kid out of his hat. With those offers, why isn't he rated higher?

I cannot remember his name, but do remember one of the Bay Area kids we were after signed to play in the WCC. The other kid was Thurman Woods from a few years past. He is playing JC ball still. He was a rather big strong but shorter forward, Like 240 LBS and 6'5" or 6'6".
