Recruiting-Towson State

In a bit of irony, Pat Kennedy's team has signed a 6'5' wing from Salt Lake Community College, also the former home of GRIZ pg recruit Bryan Ellis. 5 players from that team have landed D1 scholarships, with one of them going to Kentucky. Kennedy looks to have a dynamite recruiting class. What success he has with them remains to be seen. :-?

Could have been 6 players if Owsley would not have decided to stay one more year!

Anybody have a list of his recruits? I'm curious to check it out. I'm not suprised he brought in strong recruits on paper -- heck, he did that here at Montana. Montana's recruiting class was ranked 55th in the nation two years ago.

I believe that he has lost the motivation to turn a group of talented individuals into a good team though. Time will tell on this one.

http://www.towsontigers.com/sports/mbball/release.asp?RELEASE_ID=9280 A big IF as to whether this link works. If not, the story is on Towson's Athletic Website in the Men's BB section. I think the site is towsontigers.com

Gotta agree with that.....Fat Kennedy can recruit these guys as well as he hits the buffet lines but he can't win with them..........look at DePaul........all those guys and they were decent at best.......

Pat was not a good fit at the U of M given his almost exclusively eastern background. I doubt he ever was comfortable here. He was also not afforded a fair chance by Missoula local media. I will not be suprised if Towson improves significantly next year. I think Pat will probably settle in at Towson and the result will be a pretty respectable program. He flat out is a great recruiter and I think in a more familiar (i.e eastern) environment he will have decent success.

400 wins? Hell, he's been coaching for 35 years, for Christ's sake! He has NEVER been a good coach. His only team to make the final 8 was his FSU team who had FOUR first round NBA draft picks. One would think that a coach might be able to win wth Bobby Sura, Sam Cassal, Charlie Ward,, and the center who was a junior that season, but was drafted the next year #1 by the Hawks.

He has always been able to recruit, but is clueless at coaching.

Doug Edwards.

Pat also did a pretty good job a few years ago with some radio analysis for Sporting News Radio......he the coach at Towson State......He will be outrecruited by the likes of Georgetown and Maryland.........maybe he can get the Jewish kid to come back to Towson and play out his eligibility.....I can't remember the kids name but he was called the Jewish Jordan.......if you ask FSU and DePaul people if the cried when he left they would tell you no.....look at the recruiting classes that Kansas pulls in.......and they still cant't win it.....be happy we have Larry.......he will continue to bring the Griz back to their old dominance.
