We are 43 posts into a thread named after a point guard who isn't coming here. I contributed some of the posts so am not trying to be critical. 8) Who knows what about what's now going on in terms of filling the 2 scholarship vacancies that so far have not been announced? I can't find anything on the recruiting sites I frequent. I find no juco players that are even considering the GRIZ.

Here are a few names I hear a little buzz about

Derek Richie PG 6-1 Silverado HS Victorville, CA

Jake Dastrup PG/SG 6-3 Grants Pass (OR) Grants Pass HS

Jason Hartford C 6-9 Tillamook (OR) Chemeketa C.C. (Salem, OR)

Mac Hopson PG 6-0 Jefferson H.S. Portland OR

Again nothing too solid

had a chance to see one of our recruits, austin swift, in a controlled scrimmage recently, and i can tell griz fans that they are in for a real treat. the floor was dotted with all-conference players but swift was far and away the best out there, making several dazzling open court passes and displaying a variety of slick moves near the basket. the kid just glides, almost effortlessly, with great court sense, and can get a shot anytime he wants. he could play point but i see him more as a two or even a three. is 6'4" but might have another growth spurt in him.

asked about junior russell and was told the griz have "sent him a packet" but that no visit is scheduled. he has yet to take his s.a.t.'s. in the one game i saw him play during the norcal playoffs, junior was an absolute disruptive force, stealing the ball for breakaways three times in succession. his veteran coach calls him the best player he's coached in 30 years (though i still think we got the gold in swfit.)

van vliet is about six weeks away from playing again after the knee surgery that caused him to miss his senior season. and when i asked about kyle sharp, our other recruit from the area, eyes rolled, voices went up a register. one scouting service had called him the most underrated player in northern california, but one coach at the scrimmage felt he was the most underrated player in the country, that if he'd put up the numbers as a junior that he did as a senior, he would have attracted the attention of several major programs and might have been beyond the reach of the griz.

Good stuff City!- Thanks! I really wonder if there will be any reason to redshirt Swift or Sharp! What else happens recruiting-wise will probably have a lot to do with whether they redshirt. Sharp sound alot like a Kamarr Davis type player.

Sources tell me that Kyle Sharp is BIGGER than assistant Wayne Tinkle. Whatever Bigger means it has me excited about this kid. Ive been looking at him for a couple of months now and let me tell you.....Big Sky freshman of the year. He will take some of the triple team off of Criswell so all I can say MARCH MADNESS HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:o Thanks to all of the above for the positive serious posts. :o
:o I gave up on the 43 deep post at about 1and 1half. :o

http://www.freelancenews.com/sports/contentview.asp?c=148768 Link to article on Kyle Sharp. By the way, Kyle is 6'7", a few inches shy of Coach Tinkle.

OK with eight days or so in the spring signing period and only one of the three scholarships available actually filled (that we know) do you offer McGillis?

:o :o MSLA Cat must have a mouse in his pocket. One answer to the previous two posts would be "No" or "Negative" to the mouse, MSLA Cat, and blgs fan.
:o :o

I never said that Sharp was taller than Tinkle...I said he was BIGGER!!! (straight outta Tinkles mouth)
