How much does it help future recruits to know they'll have four three-star recruits on the team for the next three years? My guess is, it will help attract other elite recruits. What sayeth thou board?

I am more interested in how "cost of attendance" will factor into basketball recruiting between the have's and have not's....

Agreed! Big Sky "have :o " North Dakota has already decided to offer COA stipends.

It's my understanding that a school can offer a full scholarship and then tack on a Pell Grant, if the student qualifies, on top of that up to the full cost of attendance. So if a full ride kid comes from a low-income family, I think they actually do receive what amounts to be a full cost of attendance award.

Surprisingly, it is not a big factor yet. A few friends of mine coach AAU and/or HS ball say very few of their players have it as a major factor in recruiting. A few players feel like it is a school bribing them to play for them. Many players are going with comfort level with a school, area, players, and coaches. It is also an added benefit to know how much of a factor this is early in the process. For the players that ask about it, and it is important, a team can move on early away from a recruit.
