Record watch 2021

Time for the annual record watch thread. Montana as a team is trying to catch an elite record for longest streak of most games without being shutout. Currently Florida is the record holder with an active streak of 414 straight games. We’re #2 at 411. Third is not very close.

Offensively Sammy is about to do some serious climbing up the Montana receiving records, with Marc Mariani’s career TD record the closest in his sights. He just recently bumped Etu Molden(rec) and Joe Douglas(yrds) out of the schools Top 10 rankings.

Defensively there are a couple of names to watch. Robbie Hauck will be continuing his steady assent up the career tackles list, on pace to pass Dante for the #1 spot some time next year. Patrick O’Connell is starting to rise up the career sack leaders while he and Jace Lewis are both making their way up the TFL list.

Of course special teams is racking up stats too. Malik Flowers is adding to his record setting KR numbers while Gabe Sulser begins to put his mark in the PR column. Last but not least is Brian Buschini who as a Fr will be rewriting the punting record books.

Here’s a link to the record books. https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/gogriz.com/documents/2021/7/20/Record_Book_2021.pdf

Record watch has been updated. Sammy’s now cracked the top 10 in all three receiving categories. Robbie is one tackle away from the Top 10 in career tackles. Patrick O’Connell is 3 sacks from the Top 10. Brian Buschini now has enough attempts to qualify for the season record in punting average where he has a yard and a half lead on the current record holder.

with an additional 205 yards, Sammy would go from 10th to 4th in career yards.

Unfortunately, at his current production rate this year, that’ll be about 4 weeks away. I know he’s 100% team guy, but you’d gotta think he’s a little frustrated with his “lack” of production. I’m sure he, like most of us, was expecting a big year this year. He could still easily shatter the TD record but I have a tuff time seeing him take the other two spots. At the beginning of the year he needed 89 receptions, 1,000 yards, and 8 TD’s to own them all. About now, the TD mark is the only one that looks attainable.

Not having Toure' around to take some of the D pressure off Sammy has really hurt. Mitch and the rest are good receivers but Samori made a big difference.

Very true except for if Samori was still here, we’d talking about him breaking all the records, except TD’s.
