I think that Akem, Toure, Nagler, and Bingham will be a hell of a group in 2 years.

Agreed. The tough thing is that the 2015 group of Jones/Hendu/Roberts were obviously the best of recent pairings, but this group of Curran/JLM/Calhoun/Toure/ goes Jr/Soph/Soph/Frosh. So honestly it's tough to really compare the two. Right now you'd have to go with the 2015 group.

However, worth pointing out Jones's and Hendu's early career stats (all three transferred in at various times):

2012:

Henderson: 360 yards / 2 TDs

2013:

Henderson: 1004 yards / 14 TDs
Jones: 775 yards / 3 TDs

2014:

Jones 1032 yards / 8 TDs
Henderson 110 yards (season where he was going through a lot of injury and mental health issues)

2015:

Jones: 1217 yards / 11 TDs
Roberts: 649 yards / 5 TDs
Henderson: 817 yards / 7 TDs

------------

Now compare to our young players early start:

2015:

Curran: 55 yards

2016:

Curran: 601 yards / 10 TDs
Calhoun: 625 yards / 6 TDs
JLM: 651 yards / 3 TDs

2017:

Curran: 803 yards / 7 TDs
Calhoun: 505 yards / 4 TDs
JLM: 645 yards / 3 TDs
Toure: 553 yards / 5 TDs

---------

Really the only thing I could say about this is that Curran hasn't statistically ascended like Jamaal Jones did from his Sophomore to Junior year. Other than that the early numbers for our other guys are pretty promising.

Curran didn’t help his numbers by dropping a bunch of passes this year. And last. He made some spectacular catches, but he dropped far too many passes. Things like that have a compounding impact through lost yardage/touchdowns/games/playoff opportunities. Jones and Henderson became much more reliable receivers than this group at similar times in their careers. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles I guess.

Jones was flamesprayed regularly on this very board for dropping routine passes then making the spectacular catches. Regularly. As in, almost weekly.

Too early to tell for me. The 2015 crew was really good. The current crew is good but I just dont think there is enough data on Toure and Akem. Have a few good ones coming up as well. Buss is fast but I would be overly impressed if he is as fast Andersen in Bozo.

2015 crew was three 5th year seniors. I would expect them to be really really good.

I agree and actually think this crew of receivers will be great as well. Just need more games to develop more and prove themselves.
